Not a dumb question at all.
Having two B&O products in the same room without these being connected through ML or NL is always a fiddling.
You will have to deal with double commands and doble volumen controls.
The ATV on the V1 is a much easier way to go - even if it forces you to have the screen turned on, and to scroll to find your station(s).
But it would be much better to use AirPlay from an iDevice and the TuneIN radio app. If you don't have an iDevice yet, the small iPod Touch will be sufficient.
Alternatively you could connect a Bluetooth receiver to the A/V input (you'll need an adapter). Just assign that source to a button on your remote. Push the button and send the sound from a NetRadio app via any Bluetooth capable tablet/phone.
P.S. Why don't you connect the BL400's to the V1?
