This seems like such an amateurish question, but hey..
I've got beocenter 5000 which I've had for a couple of years. The turntable has gradually started losing speed or is erratic, and I'm guessing it needs a new belt. So:
1. How do you remove the platter? It doesn't seem to lift off like most turntables.
2. Any tips on where to get a replacement belt?

The Beomaster is the amp but which turntable do you have?
The Beogram 5000 TT that is normally with the BM5000 has a platter that simply lifts off.
Depending then on which TT you have will dictate the source for your belt. Possibly Axel in Germany:

No problem. I think you need to lift the centre spindle and then lift the platter off - it's in the user manual.
The platter lifts right up and off. It may bind a bit, though. The center hub stays.
I can supply correct belts, also for the tapedeck section.

Thanks - with added confidence I gave the platter another go and it did indeed come off. I think it was made difficult by the fact that everything's floating.
I've given the motor spindle and platter spindle a good clean, and as suggested here http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/cleaning-turntable-belts.120339/ boiled the belt for a couple of minutes to reinvigorate it, and also cleaned it, and it seems to have a bit of life left in it.
I will certainly get in touch when it does give out though - how much would you charge for a full set of belts shipped to the UK?
