elephant:"The Tyranny Of Distance" 🌊🚣🌊 My delivery of Essence mk 2, BLC, and ML Power Box are weeks away. I look forward to learning from your experiences BeoNut since '75
I am starting to plan my installation based on the BLC NL/ML installation guide that Chris left in his dropbox.
Although my installation will be simpler than the picture I have picked from that guide, it does has some of those NL, ML, MCL challenges !
What I am reading is that I will (ideally) have to reconfigure my network -- I suspect a triangle of three Appl1 Time Machines is not going to handle the NL/ML environment ...
The B&O guide states:
Setting-up Network Link An extra router (Network Link router) is recommended for the Network Link as it needs it's own subnet. The WAN port on the Network Link router must be connected to a LAN port on the ISP router with a CAT7 cable. This is done to avoid that data traffic meant for the 1st subnet will interfere with data traffic on the 2nd subnet. The Bang & Olufsen products can be connected to any of the LAN ports on the Network Link router. Each of the four ports on the Network Link router can be extended with a switch recommended by Bang & Olufsen. Access the Network Link router In order for the Network Link router to work when connected to the existing network it must be configured with a different address range than the ISP router on the network. Connect a PC to the Network Link router and enter the default IP-address 192.168.1.1 in the address field in the Web browser on the PC.

I would be interested in any planning thoughts - and recommendations of routers and switches (and there I thought they were the same thing - seemingly not):

elephant:Thanks Seanie for that breath of common sense
Although I always tend to suggest a second network, I think that in most cases Seanie is right.
If your curent network is working well, you probably won't have any problems.
I'd try that out before investing in more infrastructure.
The Installation Guide is for installers and - of course - they will have to take the secure path of building a subnetwork (especially with bigger installations).
After all they will have to stand up for a correct working setup, once they have left the house.

It is Spotify Connect, that is built in.
Meaning, that you can redirect your Spotify stream from another device to the Essence 2nd gen and then let that do the streaming.
The User Guide for the Essence 2nd generation is now online on the B&O website -> costumer service.

Spotify does not allow multiroom streaming
Use Deezer instead.
MM, are you quite sure multiroom will not work with spotify? A dealer told me (without much confidence, though, and without demonstrating) that Spotify would do multiroom on Beo products with spotify connect (i.e. on A9 MK2 and Essence MK2, but not on Moment).

Spotify will not distribute digitally. You can try to trick things using Spotify connect, but it is still not distributing. If you want to distribute Spotify you will need to run an analog line out of something back into the aux in on a BLC, Essence MKII, or aux input of the A9 MKII. Deezer is the only answer to this currently. I have not experienced nor have any end users that I know of experienced any of the sluggish/unresponsiveness you speak of.

Razlaw:Sorry for a dumb question, but I am a little behind on the new products. Is the Essence only for use with stand alone speakers? Or can it be connected to speakers that are connected to a Beovision?
tradingman:Good Morning, Can anybody explain me, what is the real difference between MK1 and MK2? OK there is Deezer in MK2 and they say multi room. In the manual I can't find anything that I cannot do with my MK1. My MK1 works fine with the new BeoMusic App Thanks Mat

Hi Mat,
if you don't need (or plan to have) more of the newer B&O products, you'll be fine with the A9 1.Generation - then multiroom is not relevant to you.
The A9 2.Generation has an upgraded hardware (streaming/wifi module) - if yours works fine, don't worry.
If you don't care for the support for Bluetooth 4.0 or for the integrated Deezer music service/TuneIN netradio, the 1.Generation A9 will be ok.
If you are used to control your A9 with a Beo4, you would miss that with the 2.Generation...
mjmedlo:Mk2 can join with the app Can mark1?
Can mark1?
No, because it does not support NL/multiroom.
Just received my MK2 as well.
Spotify is not supported for multiroom streaming.
If you choose 'Join' / 'Lyt med' on the remote, the only thing that happens is that you can see on your TV what song the essence is playing through Spotify connect.
You can use the Beo4 to play the next song, play/pause, but not control the volume.
Millemissen:No, because it does not support NL/multiroom. MM There is a tv - and there is a BV.
I have a deezer Premium account, but when I open Deezer in the BeoMusic App I can only play 30seconds preview? Does anyone else have the same problem?

I've just opened a Deezer Premium account today and note that I can only register 3 devices for it! With an Essence, A9 on the way, 2 iPads, a Mac and a PC etc I'm not sure how to handle that now.
Dave.

I'm not in the U.S, I'm in Europe.
It works fine in the Deezer App, on the TV and on my Mac. But I can't get it to work on the app. Tried to log out, delete the app and so on?
You need to re-enter your Deezer credentials to access your music. The 30 second cut off suggests that you are not logged into your Deezer account.
Opman
It's three mobile devices. The multi network products don't count in the three mobile devices.
I have tried to delete that BeoMusic App and to log in and out of Deezer through the app. Nothing seems to work.

Ah, that's OK then. Thanks for clarifying that. More informative than Deezer.
Finally received mine as well, in Oslo! Looking forward to setting it up and finally being able to play music on the BL15&16 installed in the bathroom months ago..
