Hi Guys,

I have noticed that sometime during production the routing for the cables that run from the right hand side of the amp to the CPU card (ribbon cables etc) was changed.

In earlier models they run under the plastic bulkhead in the middle of the unit and in later models they run over the top of the bulkhead through a slot that is cut in the front of it.

Does anyone know why this change was made?

I'm not sure but I have seen both types. My guess would be because of problems with the connection reliability of those cables. It took quite a while reworking and adjusting those connectors/cables before my Beomaster 8000 was stable. I love the Beomaster 8000 but the cables can be a real headache. I see that Beolover has come up with new cables for the receiver. I am looking into a similar solution on a troublesome Beogram 8002 I am working on that behaves erratically due to a cable problem between the main board and the control panel.

I'm sure B&O engineers felt the design was good and provided easy maintenance of the equipment when they chose those cables and connectors. They seem to be a pretty common source of failure now thirty years later.
