i received a beovision avant recently from friends. When i used it at there house when it was turned on. it was set to turn towards the desk that was in the room. the next time i went round the stand didn't turn towards the desk when it was switched on. but the stand would move with the remote but it stops at certain points. And now it is in my bedroom, the stand still turns with the remote but stops at certain points and it still doesn't turn when it is switched on and off.

What does this mean?

Hello look at the bottom back side of the avant, there will be an iron thing with two screws, or without this iron plate, there will be only a two screws connection, this side normally is in cross lined with the avant in standby, called 0 in setup stand menu, maybe the settings are changed and therefore the tv wont turn the way you like, settings are found in menu setup stand, stand 0 means standbyposition, 1 the position it goes to when turned on, and a 2 for other but the 0 and 1 are important to set up right way

Good luck

Might be! but the stand moves with the remote control but the 0,1,2 options don't do anything!

When you are in the menu for stand go to position 0 move the stand via the remote to the position you want then hit go repeat this for position 1 and 2, hopefully that should do the trick

Do you have many cables attached?, what should happen is that there is enough slack in the cable for the stand to move freely  and without obstruction, if the cables are too tight then this could be causing it to stop.

The only other thing I can think is a failing motor

To set it properly call up Menu, Stand and then for 0 use the left and right buttons to turn the stand to where you want it in standby. then press go

Repeat but change to Poisition 1 for the on position, press go when finnished.

Now call up stand on the Beo 4 and press 0 - TV should go back to standby position, then try 1

If this doesn't work then there must be something wrong with the motor or something.
