Beo 6000 speakers

Hi 

I am a new member with a problem

i have some beo 6000 speakers circa 1998  which I would like to connect to a new Samsung smart tv

i have purchased a dac box that as rca output connections

is there an easy way to connect the 2 8 pin din plugs

You need a converter cable from powerlink to RCA or a new Powerlink to RCA cabke and set the BL6000 to line. One is set to left, the other to right. This will work or connect the speakers to the headphone plug of the tv. But, then there will be no center speaker.

Another solution is to buy the Connectiin hub from B&O. This will work with toslink and you do not need another remote. So, many solutions.

The two din sockets allow you to daisy chain in a power link system i.e. B&O - that's why you have the option to select the speakers as Left or Right.

In your case you should be able to connect the RCA cables as line in.

See my setup's wiring ...... I have a power link input (socket #1; socket #2 is for output in the daisy chain!) ..... however look at the diagram on the base; you can see the mini-jack line in socket - physically that's the input connector at 9 o'clock in the photo.

When you use line in you set three position slider switch to hard right = LINE as show in the diagram

You will need something like this if your source has RCAs. I have driven 6000s with 3.5 to iPhone connections :).

You will need one cable for left channel / speaker and a separate one for right channel / speaker.

And yes the speakers are in standby all the time.

Their red LED will glow in the dark.

The units sense when there is volume on the line in and go to full power at that point.

If the music you listen to has quiet spots you may find the speakers switching on and off intermittently and sometimes with a soft plop sound

I am not sure what's happening but I have connected everything up as stated but all I am getting from the speakers is a very loud buzzing sound

By your description, if you can hear music playing but with a hum then almost certainly that's a signal cabling earthing issue. Either the cables are suspect or a grounding loop from whatever your source and BL6000.

Try different sockets or a shorter signal cable.

Is The "line in" socket a 3.5mm Rica as when I try to insert a Rica connector it does seem very tight

also is it normal when the speakers are switched on with no inputs in place that that the speakers hum 

when switched to line out mode

the speakers were fine connected to my older b@o avant tv

but have now I purchased a Samsung smart tv but still want to use my beo speakers 

i know that the audio out on the new tv is digital so have purchased a dac converter 

i do not think there is anything wrong with speakers

Which output are you using from the Samsung TV ? If it is the optical out through a converter, you will not be able to control the volume, and it will be line-level.

You need to pass the sound from the TV through something that can amplify the signal, either through a B&O audio device using AUX in, and the powerlink to the Beolab 6000, or something that can amplify the line signal from the Samsung TV.

What tv and what DAC have you bought ?

i was using the wrong Rca leads

ie the ones without the shrouds on the terminals

and yes I can control the volume from the DAC if I use the headphone out put
