I wanted to record a radio programme while I was out today but my 2008 unit wont give me PLAY TIMER options - is it possible to update its software without visiting a service centre ?

Hi,

no you must visit your service center.

If you have old hardware ( I believe 2008 is)  you will need a hardware upgrade.

Newer Beosound 4 can be updated without opening.

The lastest firmaware supports bigger than 2Gb  SDCards as well!

Hi i let my dealer update my Beosound 4 in december 2016:

Very important is the codec which supports SD cards >  2Gb with version 1.31c and higher only.
