No, you can't win a pair, so don't get too excited..

However, you can win a finely crafted and laser engraved BeoLab 35 end-cap, signed by the man who is what did the sound tweakage on the new BeoLab 50... Mr Geoff Martin !!!

I had the pleasure of sitting next to Geoff for Dinner at the launch of the BeoLab 50 and Shape, and each one of us were presented with one of these, personally engraved.

I joked that Geoff should sign his and we'd offer it as a prize on BeoWorld, then carried on shovelling in my main course.

Lo and behold - it arrived a few weeks later, signed and back in its little carry bag!

So here's the competition.  The winner gets it...

______________________

As a bit of fun, we need to give the BeoLab 50 a 'pet name'...  My customers seem to make names up for them, and freakishly they all seem to come up with the same ones independently of each other!

The BeoLab 5's they call 'Daleks'...

The BeoLab 9 : "Penguins"

BeoLab 2 : "Divers Helmet"

BeoLab 3 : "Mini Divers Helmet"

BeoLab 4 : "Pyramids"

BeoLab 6000 : "Columns"

BeoLab 8000 : "Church Organ Pipes"

and so on....

So : you've seen the images. Question :  How would you describe them?

Best answer wins the prize!

I would call the BL90's son... "Junior" Embarrassed

Or because of the pop-up tweeter, "Beam me up, Scotty" Movie

Or "Wankelitto", due to its shape seen from above (Wankel engine)

"Augustus" may also work... (poise and standing, like the roman emperor's statue, and month of launch)

Matryoshka

Shaun. :
There’s a surprise inside.

Clever idea !

"Pandora" may be an alternative Wink

Or "Jack-in-the-box" Devil

But considering the size of the drum, you expect something bigger to leap up Big Smile

If Beolab 9's are ordinary penguins, Beolab 50's are Emperor Penguins.

The 12-3 on a stand were penguin-like, too.

I really think these new BL50's look like Pingu:

If you could get one with a black front and one with a white, we could call them 'Salt & Pebber'.

I think it's to early to tell a nickname of a speaker that is not launch yet.

I haven't seen a proper pic of it yet !

Maybe you are right!

Darth Wader certainly wasn't what came into my mind, when I saw and heard them - neither was 'the bomb'....
