Hi all,
I’m not particularly ‘techy’ so thought I would seek the help of like minded others that perhaps are.
We are currently rebuilding/remodelling our house to the extent that only 2 gable ends were left standing, roof off, second floor totally demolished and ripped out, you get the picture.
Our new L shaped open plan kitchen - dining room - lounge area will be 100 square meters. In the TV end of the lounge I am installing a BV11-55 with BL5 front speakers and BL3 rears, a Beocenter 2 connected to the BV11 by a custom made cable from Steve at Soundsheavenly, and a beogram 5500 into the BC2 socket box via a Aux input switch box also from Soundsheavenly https://soundsheavenly.com/music-input/aux-input-switch-box-for-multiple-input-devices-to-one-aux-socket-4-way I thought having some spare aux input sockets might come in handy at some point perhaps hence this box. I tend to play my music from apple devices so I’m assuming an Apple TV connected to the BV11 would be able to handle this?
I would like to place a set of speakers in the dining room section of the open plan, two central pillars holding up the steel structures are perfect for this being 500 mm wide each by 2300 mm tall - plasterboarded and plastered/painted. Perfect blank canvas for speakers.
My question to you fellow enthusiasts is how to do this and with what? I want to be able to play music in the dining room area independently via an apple device without the TV speakers playing but with an option for both the TV end and the dining room to play at the same time should I wish to.
A BS35 is not an option space wise and besides, I already have 2 of those, one in the cigar lounge and one in the master bedroom. I guess a BS2 on the dining room side table could be an option but I think I would prefer mounting speakers onto the blank canvas pillars if possible for a more ‘fitted & installed look’ if you see what I mean. I’m thinking perhaps a set of wall mounted BL12-3 or a set of wall mounted 8000s or 18s would suit the pillar space.. I can easily still run cables to these pillars from the BV11-55 as we have not plastered yet.. but how to connect and play these independently??
I’m taking lots of photos as we progress and would be happy to share in due course when the hardware is put in - in the meantime I would be very grateful for any advice and input you might share regarding my required setup.
Many thanks
Brian
Trying to upload pics but am not able to for some reason.
How about another pair of BL3:s connected to the BL3s but placed in the dining area (with a wall mounted BL11?)? You can create a speaker group for those alone, and also a combined speaker group if you want to play all speakers at the same time.

Easiest to do via the app on eg an iphone.
Good suggestion but I think an elongated speaker might sit better on the long thin pillars.
Forgive my ignorance but are you saying it is possible to create a separate speaker group on the BV11-55 for the dining room? It is my understanding that the BV11 only has 5 RJ45 inputs which I guess is why you suggest connecting the extra BL3s to the existing rear BL3s - but surely this would mean that all the BL3s would play at the same time?

Thank you, I was in no way intending to boast..just slipped out with the mention of the 2 x BS35s. About 20 sq meter room, glass floor to ceiling walk-in humidor 2 meters wide by 1 meter deep: Havanas only. Leather chairs, dimmed lighting - a good place for the boys to kick back :-)
Thanks Mikipedia, I had no idea about the speaker group options on a BV11... I just bought the TV and stored it away until our house I finished.
So, in that case I should be able to just run some powerlink rj45 cables from the dining room and simply plug into the BV11 and select those two speakers as a group? ..and make a separate group for the 4 speakers around the TV and another group for all 6 speakers? I hadn’t realised it was that simple if that is indeed the case..

In the meamtime you could read this to learn a bit about, what you new tv is capable of:

There is a tv - and there is a BV
just to be independent from the TV and/or for casual listening i would feed the new speakers with an Essence or a Core.

I will run a pair of rj45 leads from the two pillars to the BV11 before we plaster to cover all bases.
Photos to follow in due course.
