Dear forum

When I play a movie on my mac on VLC-player to my Beovision 11 via a HDMI-cable I get the surround-back sound on my BV11. When I use another player on my mac it is not a problem. What to do? I only have the tv-speakers and no surround setup. That is also why it is very strange.

Check how the speakers are configured for the source that is configured for that hdmi.

Could be that the tv speakers are configured as surround l/r

I have also checked up on that. They are front left and right. When I use another player, example quicktime it is no problem. But I want to use VLC as it can add subtitles, the srt file

I could :)

I have all the bits and pieces in place but I have never done it (except maybe years ago as a test :-)

What movie are you trying to watch ?

If it’s not a bootlegged copy I could try a test for you !

try to test a blue ray or dvd movie :) I have just tried on my BV 8-40 - no problem, it worked - so it must be something on my BV11

Oh well - I have a 8-40 too, so my test is redundant ... although I must say I don’t think I have ever used VLC for physical media !

I suggest we now try to think of ways in which your two BVs could be so different as to create what seems to be a bug ...

I though a BR drive on a MacMini was “a bag of hurt” and was not supported ... or did things change ?

I just received an update to VLC-player and now the sound on my BV11 is one front speaker and one back. I also tried with separate speakers - did not make any difference.

Hi - I have the same issue playing 5.1 movies on VLC with my Mac mini and my BV9.

In older versions of VLC I used to be able to press (I think) CMD-L and change the soundtrack being played. I would repeat that until I got to the one that was giving trouble and it would resolve it. But that work-around stopped working a couple of versions ago.

I tried playing with the plethora of settings, but without success.

I gave up and started using Kodi (or whatever it’s current name is). Works beautifully, but I never got to grips with the library function.

I am open till trying another mediaplayer. Kodi cannot be verified on my mac,  it is from an "unidentified developer" - got other alternative players? And can handle srt subtitle files.
