Hi. My name is Fhang. I first bought my A9 on the 1st of this month from the Bang and Olufsen store in bangkok. There was a problem with the speaker that warranted a replacement and I got it on the 14th. But now I have also come across another issue that I want to ask you guys about. (I came across this community when trying to figure out what was wrong with my now-replaced A9)
So since I have been using my second A9, it has been quite an unplesant experience to connect it to my phone via Bluetooth. I don’t know if it’s normal or what. So I got to start using it on the 15th but there was not a problem that day. The problem emerged the day after when I tried to connect my Iphone X to it, in which they had been paired the day before and the speaker was now a remembered device on my phone, and the “connection unsuccessul, make sure the device is turned on and in range” message just kept popping up.For that, I tried the “forget this device” and paired them again. Did this many times actually. Pairing was not a proble but the aforementioned ominous message just kept showing whenever I tried to hit “connect”.With this problem, I went on to try connecting other phones to the speaker instead and they were connected with ease, all done at first attempts. Then I went back to try connecting my phone it it, again it was still not successful.I don’t remember exactly how I ended up getting my phone connected to the A9 soon after that. Maybe after I unplugged it, gave it a minute to boot and tried once again to set them up from the beginning. So after all my phone was connected to my A9 again. The without-hiccups spell, which I was able to enjoy using the speaker without trouble, lasted several days until yesterday when the same problem returned. The “Connection Unsuccesful, make sure...” message came back. No matter how many times I tried to press “connect”, it wouldn’t let me. Tried turning off my phone and turning it back on, removing the remembered device from my phone, and re-pairing. Nothing connected my phone to my A9. Each time the spinning sign didn’t really last for a second either. As soon as I pressed, the message “connectiom unsuccessful” just popped up right away. It seemed like somehow my phone couldn’t find the speaker. Then I tried to set up my Macbook with the speaker, it was immediately successful. Starting to think that my phone could be the culprit, I tried to connect it to my Macbook via bluetooth, there was no problem either. I realized also own an A1 speaker which I always use this phone of mine to play music from and I had never had trouble with connection. So I just unplugged my A9 again and plugged it back on. Still, I could not connect my phone to the A9 yet. So I tried re-pairing one more time by pressing the bluetooth button on the A9 and letting my phone rediscover it and now it worked! From what I have gathered from this, my speculation is that the key to fixing the issue I’m experiencing is unplugging and setting everything up from the beginning. Now my phone is still connected to the A9 as I’m writing this thread. Also during the past several days that I said there was no problem using the speaker, I tried to disconnect and reconnect on purpose along the way to see whether I would run into something unexpected, everything, however, turned out to be just fine, both connection and sound wise.
Sorry for the long message here. I didn’t know how to explain better. Please share with me if you are familiar with the issue or happen to know why it is the way it is. I don’t know who is at fault here, my phone or the A9? Or actually what is the problem here? I enjoy using the product so much when it works normally but with the problem with my first A9 before it was replaced and now with this problem I’m currently experiencing, I can’t help but feel a little tired now, to be honest.PS1. I forgot to mention that while bluetooth didn’t work, Airplay worked fine! Does that say anything?PS2. The software should be up to date. The technical staff at the store in Bangkok made sure to update the new A9 before they gave it to me.
Hi Fhang,
Thank you for your detailed post. I experience exactly in details the same problems as you have described. So far i have used the B&O app to Play at my A9 mk2, Since my iPhone has difficulties in Connecting to the A9 by bluetooth. Strangely I experience no problems in connecting to my beolit 15 with bluetooth from the same phone.
best regards Kenneth
