hi knowledgable people.

 

Purchased a Beosound 1 ex display earlier today from my local B&O store. But its been a nightmare. Software version is:

Version 1.17.22535.7625124
And it won’t update to latest. Beotool says Beoportal unreachable. Won’t connect, Deezer not working, chrome cast wont work etc etc etc
How do I manually update? 
Some one please help, I am at my wits end

Hi,

Ok, i checked my BS1 and it's version is 1.19.  It did say last week on the Beotool that Beoportal was unreachable and i had problems updating it. 

I reset the device using the button (cog button) on the underside and re "paired" it from scratch ie find it on your iphone, add it back to your network etc 

Then it updated.

It's the first time i have had to do that

PS i removed it from the BeoApp too 

 

First test though: is it working?

How do you update it without using the B&O App? Is there a way to manually update it. And it keeps showing as a generic speaker in the app??

 

So grateful for any help given

Try to connect to it from your Internet browser. e.g Firefox by entering the following URL:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9000 where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is you BS 1 IP address (assuming you know how to find it)

This will bring you the product configuration page from where you may have a better control on what’s happening

I recently used that method on my M3 after a factory reset that nor BeoApp and Beoplay could recover.

BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1

David,

1. Use the Bang & Olufsen app to find the IP address of the product. The IP can be seen after selecting the BeoSound 1 settings in the app.

2. Connect to the IP via a browser on a PC or via mobile browser by typing the number in the adress-bar. Now the BeoSound 1 webpages should be seen in the browser.

3. Select the menu "UPDATE PRODUCT SOFTWARE"

...and stills says running latest firmware, but its not!

 

If any one has the latest firmware they can share with me? Be so appreciated. Gutted all this hassle with something I paid a lot for.

Sorry, my fault (I do have a file, have downgraded my BS2 several times after new firmware issues)

So:

Go to "New Firmware Available"

Send you a screenshot:

Mine isn’t showing that option. Just says product software up to date which it isnt as we know.

 

How can I download the file from you? Dropbox? Email it me?

did you try it with a PC? It should show up then ..!

 

Sorry, I cannot give you the right file, mine is for a Beodound 2.

I don't own a BS1.

yes, on Macbook now. Still nothing.

 

And isn't the firmware for all devices? Would be fine.

No, firmware is different.

First enable automatic software update!

(I haven't done done this, because I want to keep the downloaded file)

You could also try going to the B and O Facebook page and using the Facebook Messenger function to contact B and O. I have done that a couple of times recently and received very quick and very good service, even on weekends.

Is your product shown in the app? Is it set up as your device? Maybe this has something to do with your problem.

I am guessing that you also have the BeoTool APP?

Can you see it via the B&O APP? Quite often it will show software update required and you need to go into configure and manually do it.

Yes, the beotool app shows red dots on beoprtal cant be reached and software not been looked for.

Or maybe is it still in storemode? I tried accessing this mode to investigate but need a account and password, don’t have that so cannot look further. Maybe someone else can guide you on this possibility. Seems to me your BS1 is limited for some strange reason.

A couple of weeks ago my app showed no connection to BeoPortal on multiple devices. I was also trying to an install an update that was being pushed to me by B and O and it did not show up. I uninstalled all products from the app, and then reinstalled them in the app and the connection was restored, the update appeared, and was installed.

Update

 

Beosound returned to store earlier and full refund given.

 

Sad and frustrating experience all round.
