I,m offerd an old MkII with some small troubles reading discs. Is it a lot of work to repair this? Might it be enough with a single cleaning of the lens?

You should probably count on  the worst scenario that the laser needs to be replaced, that in itself is a major issue as B&O no longer has stock of lasers. So basically you have to buy a chinese brand of Ebay and hope that it works. Also need to verify if that 9000 has had the laser repaired before by B&O because it would have probably been upgraded to the MK3 laser

I was interested in a BS9000 but for similar reasons stopped like you.

It seems a very big shame that B&O can’t supply this amazing legend and pinnacle of B&O’s history with parts. I can foresee a time when all BS9000s in the world will become doorstops or end up in recycling.
