Does anyone know how to determine what the specific cartridge model number is on a Beo 5500 record player?  Im told that it can be a MMC 1,2,3,4 or 5 but I don't know how to inspect the cartridge/player to determine which number it is.  Thanks.

The specific MMC number is written on the top of the cartridge.

1 being the top of the range and 5 being the more basic (cheaper model).  I think the internals are the same for each cartridge but the diamond and suspension differ depending on the MMC version.

They are all interchangeable.

Dave.

a nice summary here

the 5500 came as standard with the MMC 4 , it sounds fine with MMC5 and 3 as well :-)
