Is it possible to create a PUC for a Beosystem 4 based TV if it is not already available? If so, can you do it your self based on a template? Anyone that knows how to do it?

As far as I know it's not possible to do it by yourself, but B&O can create a special PUC. But I guess for a lot of money.

It is possible if you know what you are doing.

You need to have a good understanding of how IR protocols works in general and of the PUC file syntax.

Custom PUC files can then be uploaded to the TV using an USB stick.

What box do you need a puc file for, or what do you like to modify on a specific puc file?

For the dealer it is now possible to change the PUC file. There has been software released to change the settings and commands.

I need a PUC file for a Beovision 4. Actually just to turn it on and off with Beosystem 4

The BV4 panels are controlled via RS232 connection. Only the very latest BV4 are supported by BS4. I don't think that a PUC will help you that much.

Why shouldn't a PUC help? All I need it to is to turn the monitor on and off. It works with a Panasonic remote so why shouldn't it work via PUC?

Ok. I wasn't aware of that this trick is possible with all BV4 screens.
I think there is already a Panasonic screen PUC in the database.
If you can't find it with the search function within your BS4 maybe ask your dealer.

There is a hole in the frame in the lower left corner where you can point the remote and control the panel. Should be possible to attach a PUC there also. However I can't find any Panasonic display PUC in the online DB.

Do you have an example of a PUC file that I can have a look at?

Thaks for the file!

I guess I must be doing something wrong because the BS4 tells me "no puc tabels found" when I try to upload it?

What I have done:

  • Downloaded the file
  • Removed .txt
  • Copy the file to a USB
  • Inserted the USB in the BS4
  • Tried to select a PUC from the USB via setting/screen

Do I need to do something special with the file/USB for the BS4 to recognize it?

Is there someone on the forum that have had a PUC table loaded to a Beosystem4 based TV via USB?

Put the file in a folder then plug it in.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Thanks for this. Does anyone have any advice on how to use this file to create my own custom PUC file for my own device not on the B&O PUC list?

Thanks

Doesn't work for me. Do I need to name the folder something special? Do the USB needs to be in any special format?

Do you have an other example file that I could try or could you check the file for the BV4 to see if it works?

All of the more recent products use the .decx file format which is different to the older .dec format used with the masterlink era BeoVisions and BeoSystem 3 for example, so this file will not work with the BeoSystem 4.

Is there any documentation regarding the older format for Beosystem 3 PUC?

Can I upload it via an USB stick into a Beosystem 3, too?

Very interesting topic!

The attached file works for the Beovision 4 Plasma screens (which is Panasonic panels). Rename the file from .txt to .decx

I do not know if they work for Panasonic TV also, but you could always try.
