Does anyone know if iTunes is supported by Essence? I.e can Essence find my Itunes files. Guess not but would like to have that confirmed.
If only DLNA is supported, can anyone recommend some app that can make my iTunes content visible to the Essence over DLNA? My iTunes library is on a Synology NAS connected to an iMAC.

Do I understand your question?
Just AirPlay to the Essence - should be quite easy from the iMac.

Hi Räuber,
you are probably right - about wanting to starting from the 'knob'.
This is not possible.
I did not mention the Remote app, since he just mentioned the iMac!
A way 'round (if his files are MP3's!) would be to install a DLNA server on the iMac (or use the one on the Synology), and let it have access to these files.
There are even DLNA servers that can encode m4a/AAC files to wav on the fly, and send them to a DLNA renderer.
Räuber & MM,
You are correct. I just want to click the knob, but also being able to browse the music using the new Beo app.
My first thought would be to share the same iTunes Media folder in the BeoMusic app. In your case located on you Synology. So the Essence and ITunes just share the same folder.
edit: got the question. You have lots of m4a files?
I think using Airplay within Itunes on a MAC versus on an IOS device may ake a difference.
The IOS device will at some point switch the Airplay connection off if it is not in use, if you leave your Mac running it actually keeps the Airplay connection.
So you might be OK, did someone try?

I assume that the only files that the BeoMusic app can see are the ones that are shared by DLNA, right?
So the BeoMusic app will not see whats in the iTunes media folder. Correct?
I have almost all music ripped in Apple Lossless.
the Synology NAS can share the iTunes library (which is placed on that Synology) via DNLA and as a file share. That will not be the issue. An issue might be that the essence cannot decode apple lossless files. In that case you would be able to play some of your files, but not the apple lossless files. I have not been able to find any information on what codecs are supported by the essence.

This is what the specification says:
Supported formats on DLNA:
• MP3 (all) or VBR/CBR 32"320kbit
• WMA, both VBR/CBR 20"320kbit
(No support for WMA Lossless)
• AAC (ISO and ADTS)"320kbit
• PCM (WAV) general + 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192 kHz
Supported formats via BeoMusic App:
• FLAC, 8-192 kHz, 16 or 24 bits, 2 channels
Visited a dealer this thursday for a demo.
The Essence play MP3:s even if they are in the itunes library. Majority of my music is in Apple Lossless, so I will need to convert to FLAC. I actually think it will be too troublesome compared to what I gain, to get the Essence.
The "knob" was smaller than it looked from the pictures. Nice feeling in the volume wheel.
