Hi everyone, I have 4 RL 140s in my garage.
I have two plugged in to an old pioneer amp, and they sound good but when i raise the volume from my computer they distort and sound bad.
Im in the market to get an amp powerfull enough to power all 4. Would a car amp work?
What would you all suggest?
The way i run my music is from winamp on my cpu then run a aux 3.5mm wire to the amp...
As you notice im not a audio savy person, I just want to play them as LOUD as possible while I'm welding and working on my stuff...
Thanks everyone!
Welcome to Beoworld !
The Beovox RL140 are very good speakers and quite powerful for their size but they suffer from foam rot.Check the woofers!

thanks dillen! how do i check to see if they are rotted? do i need to take off the cloth and straps?
If they are in okay condition, what shold i do next? look for a more powerful amp?
Thanks again!
Just google "RL 140 rot" and check images.
ok no foam rot here...they look pretty un used.... maybe my amp is just too weak??
I have a pretty good quality car amp, its for speakers. 4 channels at 100 watts rms each...would i be able to use it? would the sound quality be good?
i also ordered this cable...i thought maybe my 2$ cable could also be a problem

I think this is the most hardcore B&O installation I've ever seen. Respect
These speakers will need (and can handle) a hefty amp to play loud. The advertised car amp "watts" are typically very weak in practice.

shoul i get a preamp or a power amp? I guess i should be looking for something that has 4 channels @ 200 wts rms?? Would i be able to use a 5 channel power amp and add my 10" car subwoofer??

You could try to find good working Beomaster 8000. It would drive your RL-140 nice but those beasts (BM8000) are not easy to find (at least in good working order)...
