BeoSystem 5500 Remote, disassembly or repair instructions?

Hello,

I just bought a Beosystem 5500, everything appears to be working but the REMOTE CONSOLE had very old batteries; when I pulled them out a lot of dried battery acid flaked off & fell into the unit

I want to pull it apart and clean it out, so nothing gets corroded. I can feel bits of the dried acid grinding if I turn the volume wheel

has anyone opened one of these? if so, is there anything I need to be careful of? and is is a complicated procedure

Just remove 5 bolts on the underside. Watch the length, they are different.

The red infrared plastic cover has some small hooks, open it slowly like a hinge.

Remove the power Cords (just pull!)  and the infrared wires. Watch the connector or pull them completly out.

Voila!

5500 and 6500 parts are compatible... ;)
