Hello,
I recently bought a Beogram 3000 from 1974. The player works well with one tiny exception - when the tonearm moves (especially when moving back to its' rest position) it makes a squeaky noise. I believe that I have to grease the tonearm but how should I do that in detail and what grease or other product should I use therefore?
Hi Caligula,
The only advice, it's to use Silicone Grease instead of any WD40 and so...
I don't own this kind of turntable, but on my 4002 that was I did.
Probably will be useful to get the service manual of your Beogram 3000 which will help you a lot to achieve this.
Do not use WD40 under any circumstance - it causes corrosion.
Almost any PFPE grease can be used or PTFE grease. Use it on both runners and lubricate the full length.
Dave.
The squeeky noise probably comes from the tiny tip of the lift pin.First attempt would be a good cleaning of the tip and its race on the aluminium lift plate.Lubricating it could cause other problems because the mech relies on the friction.
