Greeings all :-)

Don't want to add to any confusion but I was under the impression all BG4xxx models

Come with a record cleaning function by just keeping the  '33'key depressed or am I

mis-informed ?

Reason for asking is,  I have two BG4002 models and none seem to do that ??

Which are the critical parts involved with the function that could possibly be faulty ??

Could someone enlighten me here ??

Just the right sort of job over the christmas break :-)

Cheers,  ALF

I believe that the 4002 doesn't have a record cleaning function as such.

This is from the user manual.

My 4002 spins with the 33 button depressed. And that's how I clean records.

Thank you Rich,

That is how I remember the record-cleaning function and doubt very much it would be

Different with different types of the BG4xxx series ?!

However, my initial question was about thoses crucial components involved to make that happen ??

The cleaning function does not work on some of my tables which indicates to me there's

A fault somewhere !??

Cheers ALF

Interesting that it mentions the hold the 33rpm button for cleaning functionality in the manual for the Beogram 4000 but in the 4002 manual it says you have to press on and then lift to achieve the same result.

Perhaps the functionality was added/removed during production changes.

I think your looking for problems that don't exist.

hi lee,

well, that seems correct on the BG4002 but the BG4000 and BG6000 definitely have record cleaning functions without that "start and lift-up business" - I can not comment on the BG4004 as the owners manual is not available ?!

so, we are both correct , but with some BG4002 types is seems an option !!

sorry, I have two of those tables as well as the quadrophonic BG6000 and BG4000.

lucky me  :-))

That fact is mentionned in the type 5513 service manual. Type 550x does not have that function. I didn't know that..
