I have recently purchased and setup a beogram 5500, which the great folks here helped me with on another thread.

My question is this, aren't I suppose to be able to control the turntable functions like turn and play from my master control and beolink 1000? It's not working...or I may be misinformed, which is likely.

Your help is appreciated!

Make sure that the Beogram has got all of its 7 pins in the DIN plug. 2 of them are removable and these are the ones that control datalink.

Can these pins be purchased? I will check to see but if they aren't in the cable, does someone on the forum sell them?

I don't think anyone sells them per se. But I'm sure someone will have a solution. IIRC you can get away with only having one. So you could remove the other pin from the Beogram CD and use it in the Beogram. I'm not sure which pin it is that can be removed so you'll have to do some testing.

I've just looked it up. Remove pin 6 from the Beogram CD lead (it unscrews) and install it into the pin 6 hole on the Beogram DIN plug. That should get them both working.

Looking at the DIN plug face on with the notch at the top, the top right pin is PIN 6.

Could I instead sacrifice the pin from my beocord tape player?

Thank you, Lee! That was exactly the problem. The previous owners had broken the 6th pin off and it was barley above the surface of the threads for me to remove it with a pair of jewler tweezers. I replaced it with my beocord cassette salvaged pin and it's working like a charm now.

Ps. I was able to get an extension din cable made by Steve from sounds heavenly and that worked with the master control, too.
