Finally I've got a box to output 4K material to my Avant - picture looks stunning 😃
But, I can't get DD 5.1 sound from the Nvidia, only PCM 2.0 regardless what setting I'm using.
So if anyone here has an Avant + Nvidia Shield AND working DD 5.1 sound from Netflix, I would like to know how you got it fixed, please?
Thanx
Beovision 11-55, BeoPlay V1 40, Beosound 9000, Beolab 8000's and 3 Beocom 5's...
I've the same issue, but the Shield is giving 5.1 to the Avant, the Avant tho is playing a stuttering mess. I have to tell netflix to revert to pcm 2.0 to get good sound.
It does seem to be a netflix issue tho, as the shield can output Dolby just fine from other apps and sources (vlc, plex, youtube)
Previous, and I've got a full 5.1 speaker setup
Try selecting the Surround Speaker Group on your remote a second time... Had the same problem with my BV14...

I've used the Nvidia Shield for 1.5 years now, and I have to agree with the statements above regarding the quality difference between the 1080p to 4k: The Avant does the best job, then Apple followed by the Shield. I have experienced the sound issues with every single Shield sw version, and it has become second nature to restart the box to sort them out. Interesting to read the comment regarding 4k@30hz, I will have to try this one out. I have switched between 4k@60 hz and the B&O-to-their-dealers recommendation for in-store demos: "NOTE: For optimal Netflix 4K viewing experience, manually adjust the output resolution to “4K 23.976 Hz” here:
Roger, would your statement be true of any box attached to the Avant where you want to play 4K?
Michael,
I do not know, but I can't see why not. But this recommendation is put in a one-pager to the dealers regarding the Nvidia Shield and the Avant, so a bit strange that they didn't make a generic recommendation for 4k input format. Could you try out 23.975hz and give us your feedback on the result? I'm unable to conclude.
Roger
I've noticed something similar with normal 1080p content on my BV11.
With an AppleTV 4 set to 1080p @50hz the bv11 handles motion and overall image quality beautifully - almost as smooth as a connected bluray player.
However I recently configured a micro pc with a decent video card as a Home Theatre PC, and struggled for some time to get close to the same image and motion quality despite identical Picture settings and a HDMI connection.
Switching the pc's video card to output at RGB (Full) and 24hz rather than 50/60hz immediately resolved both image / colour quality and most importantly resulted in pc based file video motion as smooth as I'm used to from the appletv or bluray.
