Hi. I've just bought a beolab 2 from eBay, to use with my beolab 8000's. I have plugged it into the mains, linked the beolab 8000's into the back of the beolab 2, and the beolab 2 is linked into the back of the beomaster 7000.
The beolab 8000's are playing fine but I cannot hear ANYTHING from the beolab 2 ... It is making no sound at all. Have I set it up wrongly? Or is it dead?
I have put the input lead for the beolab 2 into one of the output sockets in the beomaster - is this not right?

Andrew, that reads exactly like my issue with taking shipment of a Beolab 2. First few questions, does the LED change from red to green? Your connection also seems correct, one PL from BM7000 to Beolab 2 input, two BL2 outputs going to 8000s correct?
My BL2 had exactly this behaviour from probably some trauma from shipping. Connected everything, LED would change from red to green, no bass from the BL2 but the 8000s playing just fine. Triggering was working just no bass sound. Tried every combination of the BL2 switches, tried unplugging the 8000s - same result.
If that's so then I'm afraid your BL2 amp board (there's only one) will need replacement. At least in Canada these boards are still available and mine was replaced about 6 months ago.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, the LED changes colour ... I shall have to find a repairer in that case. Sad news ...
I once got his. A broken magnet inside.
Ordering a new woofer wasn't in it's budget, so fixed this one. But nevertheless, in this state they don't do much..
Forgot to mention, broke after shipment in wrong package.

What would they charge for a new speaker?
Look pretty bad to be honest. The problem might also be that the magnet is simply to heavy: when the speaker makes a drop means that the heavy gains to much energy so that it will crack off the rest of the speaker. In other words: the weight is not considered while designing the speaker when falling. It might be a "design flaw"sort off ....
