As a reasonably experienced electronics engineer (40 year plus) does anyone have details of how to derive the switch-on trigger signal for thisamp. Adaptors available but prohibitively expensive for just one unit so obviously I can wire in Phono leads to the Left and Right POWERLINK socket on the amplifier BUT it needs a trigger which normally comes via the Powerlink cable from a B & O system-my guess is tha the IR link socket could possibly provide the appropriate DC trigger signal? Any info appreciated,

Do you want to just use the amp as slave from a non B&O source?

.

I think if you connect a ML ir sensor to the ir socket, you can turn the amp on and off manually and via remote(B&O) control?

Otherwise, you can trigger the amp by applying say 5-6 volt between pin 1(+) and pin 2(-)of the powerlink socket.

Does the source equipment provide any "on" voltages anywhere that could be adapted?

What are you attempting to do?

Regards,

Nick

Thanks for that, Nick-Sounds Heavenly provide a Powerlink to RCA Phono(2) powered trigger cable. They state there is NO 5vdc source on the 1657 amplifier so they provide a separate mains adaptor to provide this trigger voltage. This voltage and where it is applied was the answer I needed-I WAS ABOUT TO EXPERIMENT WITH a normal 5vdc USB type mains adaptor, which should do the  job, hopefully!

All I want to do is use it as a slave amplifier-volume, etc  will be controlled from the source. One anomally with setting the amp up as described seems to be that the IR link (normally used with a BEO4 REMOTE) will not function, according to information I have received-however this will be unnecessary anyway!
