Never having performed this procedure I have looked back over previous threads for guidance, removing the grills reveals the extent of the decay.

First one has cleaned up really well, the old foam fell away almost by itself.........

New rubber offered up for size and looks a good fit, I will need to remove the dust cap to fit shims, the cone is all over the place and the chances of lining everything up without shims seems remote

I think the rubber should be glued to the cone first, once set the cone will be glued to the frame........unless anyone thinks otherwise?

Rubber glued onto frame, shimms removed, dust cap back on  and speaker tests out fine....one down.

Second one complete, cone moving freely....will box it up tomorrow and test it out, I'm sure it will be fine.

I repaired some S40’s a few years back that had foam rot (thread on archived forum). My first “major” project really. I have modded them quite a bit since then. They are a fantastic little speaker. Great sound, and they can play quite loudly for their size. Lots of placement possibilities with no loss in fidelity. They even sounded great hanging in my garage as part of a 2400 system (replaced by P45s eventually).

Speakers connected back up last night, sounding great - after months of either being told "No, we don't do that" or "Well, we could look at them for £100 but can't guarantee anything" (that was B&O) I'm properly over the moon to have them back. Thanks Craig, you're a diamond!

Fine work Craig! I always love seeing old, classic B&O gear lovingly brought back to life.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad
