When I first switch on the Beocenter 9000, sound only emerges from the left speaker.

If I press "Sound" until I reach the balance setting, the balance is 100% hard left and the display is flashing/flickering.

I can press left and then repeatedly right until the volume balance is centered, no longer flickering and apears normal.   This stays centered until the unit is switched off.

Any ideas what may be the problem?

Thanks

After you have adjusted the balance you must press PROGRAMMING, then press SOUND and finally STORE.

... but if the BC9000 doesn't keep its setting then you may have a dead processor battery. The flickering display symptoms also suggest this.

It is relatively easy to replace the battery - it's also discussed on this htread and elsewhere on the forum: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/20959.aspx
