MartinRK:Will I also be able to use this cable for my BC 9500, so the ML system will turn on (A-Tape 2) when I start playing music from the Essence? Br Martin

In short, no! A fully wired PL cable allows a 5V trigger to be sent to a specific pin in the passive's input. The PL sockets of the BC9500 are outputs only, hence will not accept a 'turn on' trigger input.
I can't think of a way to achieve what you want, but it would be useful to know ho your BC9500 is connected to the rest of the ML system - via a converter?
I think that what you are trying to do has been discussed before, sadly without a simple solution for a setup like yours.
The problem is that the Essence's PL outputs are the only direct way of triggering anything else to come on, and specifically Beolab speakers or a Beolink Passive via a 5v signal on one of the pins. There is no simple way of transferring this trigger signal across to the ML system (or even MCL, in the case of your BC9500). The BC9500 would effectively need a 'datalink' signal in order to force it to switch on and select a specific input.
I have a similar setup with a BC9500 and Playmaker in place of the Essence (and no TV in that room). I did toy with the idea of using the Playmaker's PL 5V trigger signal to switch on (or power) a BL1000 IR remote with TV button taped down. Thus the Playmaker should have been able to switch on the AUX input (BC9500 in A.OPT2). However, the project seemed a bit too 'Heath Robinson' for my liking so I never tried!
I did once successfully use the Playmaker's PL output to switch on a Beomaster 900K (via remote mains switch), but of course in this case the power and aux buttons on the BM900K were mechanical and could be pre-selected.
Perhaps you could do something clever with Lintronic or similar.
Hi Martin,
there is no datalink in the output of the Essence (datalink was ditched years ago...) - no matter what cable you would use.
And since the BC9500 has no line-in sense on the inputs (here on the A.Tape 2), there is no way around using the BC9500 touch panel or the remote to activate the A.Tape 2 input - and controlling the rest via app/alternatively an Essence remote.
The Essence is just a sound source for the BC9500 and the connected linkrooms.
Be happy with the addition of new sources to your old school setup.......and get used to controlling it this way ;-)
P.S. I have done this since the days of the Playmaker and before that with other networked players, and am currently using an Essence 2nd gen.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Further to my last, perhaps the device discussed in this thread would at least allow you to select TAPE.2 from another room using your iPhone? https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/30431/238621.aspx#238621
Yes but you'd have to have a play around with the best input to select - as described here: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/5354/48671.aspx#48671 You don't want to confuse your TV that is already on the ML system.
But unfortunately you will still need to activate the 'aux' input manually as the Essence can't do it.
Hi,
there's one project on github https://github.com/jensjoachim/B_and_O_Projects/
The sub project 'sound detect' could be useful for the desired functionality: In this project the sound is detected by means of presence of audio and a delayed switch off when no music is on the input. This could be changed to act on the powerlink on signal from the essence powerlink out connection.
The controller acts on the A.Tape2 connection and gives a 'Play' and 'Stop' signal to the BeoMaster/BeoCenter/BeoSystem.
The only drawback in this solution is: It's not a ready to buy solution.
But it would solve the problem exactly as the thread opener wanted it.

This cable is specially wired to trigger a Beolink Passive, ML/MCL Converter or MCL2P amplifier from a newer B&O audio product or TV with an RJ45 output only, unfortunately it won't automatically switch your Beocenter to the Aux or Tape 2 port when an Essence is started.
This is because the Essence does not send out the correct Datalink signals to switch on the Beocenter, so you will always need to set the Beocenter manually to the Aux or Tape 2 input.
Please use this cable instead to link the Essence to the Beocenter: https://soundsheavenly.com/playmaker-and-essence-wireless-streaming/rj45-to-aux-input-cable-airplay-on-your-bo-system
