Hi all

I recently both the following setup:

  • Beovision 4-42 serial no: 18443759
  • Beosystem 2 Type: 9414

I was reading  through the forum on above topic, and found some useful information:

  • Beovision 4-42 can be have extra DVI module as HD input
  • DVI module can be one from B&O (HDReady Kit) or Panasonic TY-42TM6D
  • I need software upgrade to 16.2 software in order for DVI module to be enabled

Below are my questions for clarification:

  • will TY-42TM6D work 100% with Beovision 4-42 serial no: 18443759?
  • I hear people say that upgrade can be done yourself, can one tell how to do it, where to take/buy the software from, how much does it cost?
  • When one say software upgrade to 16.2 does he mean upgrade of Beosystem 2 or plasma panel or maybe both?
  • will my Beosystem 2 be able to handle DVI input on my panel, my Beosystem 2 is the one without PC IN input (sometime I see it is called Beosystem 1, so I am also confused and not sure what I have)

Will really appreciate your answers.

Andrzej

Type 9414 is a mk2 version of the BS2, if I'm remember correct. It can be checked in the servicemenu. With software 13.x or higher, it can be upgraded to 16.3 software.

Software 16.3 is only needed for the BS2. With use of a D7 panel, you also "need"to flash the panel itself. It will work without, but if it's a B&O panel, you should flash the panel also.

The software is needed to tell the system that when using the DVI module, the video handling by the BS2 will bypassed by the DVI module in the panel itself. That means that the source (and only just 1 source) will be connected to that module. Sound will still be handled by the BS2.

BS2 , mk3 -4 has a VGI input. But that just a analog input for VGA signals without Vesa support, like the Beomedia.

Hi Beobuddy

Thanks a lot for that:

My Beosystem has 14.2 software so that is a good news.

Still few questions, maybe you know:

  • you mentioned "with D7 panel" does it mean my panel is D7, do you know it by serial no?, how can I find it out
  • will TY-42TM6D surely fit for my setup?
  • you also mentioned that "it will work without the flesh", so I mean it is only recommended that I do it right, not a must to make it work?
  • And software upgrade of beosystem and flashing of panel can I do it myself or at least one of those, if yes where to find out how?

Really appriciate your help. Thanks a lot!

Andrzej

First boolet I got answered, my panel is D7. Also I found out that flashing panel is needed only if I want to control input device from BeoSystem.

Any idea on DVI module compatibility and some how too on software update of BeoSystem?

What happens if you connect a, for example, Apple-TV to the DVI input on the BV4 panel? Will that work or will you have problem with dhcp?

According to below that should be possible and that is my expectation, but personally I have no clue as just trying to make all things work:

http://bogo.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2646/~/which-bang-%26-olufsen-televisions-qualify-as-hd-ready%3F

"All Bang & Olufsen televisions which qualify as HD ready, can decode HDC"

@Beobuddy

As above information valid source?

I called B&O and they told me software costs 62CHF (I live in Switzerland) with work it would be 150CHF.  So just last bit of the story to confirm:

  • TY-42TM6D is a good fit for Beovision 4-42 right?
  • also is that the only DVI module that fits or there is some alternative for my panel

Hi Beobuddy

Got update from the service and there is what they say:

"we also have to change an IC art no 8344288 on Position 06IC3 in the BSY 2".

Can you comment on that? Is that really required for my Boesystem 2 Type 9414?

Regards,

Andrzej

Hi All

I have managed to finally setup everything and enjoy HD input. The only thing that is outstanding for me is control of the picture (color, brightness, etc) for DVI delivered signal. Looks like I cannot access menu at all when using DVI source, also setting done on TV does no have any effect. Any idea? I am not sure if B&O flashed my panel when DVI was put into my Beovision.

Hello,

I would like to know the value of the geometry adjustements in the monitor service menu for your bv4-42, I just find in service manual for bigger one but not to configure my installation.

Thanks a lot.
