I have a Beosystem 3 with DVI outs. I am trying to get the sound from my LG OLED screen through the Beosystem.  I've searched the forum and can find a few older posts saying people have done this,  but none actually explain how.

I have a Toslink to SPDIF converter and I have connected it to the TV and set Optical/HDMI ARC out. I have set the Beosystem 3 to AV2 sound input SPDIF.

I cannot get any sound.

Can anyone help with what I need to do. What connections I need to make.

Thanks in advance

Try changing the type of sound your tv outputs. (PCM/Passthrough/Auto)

This is how I set the TV (55C9) and it works fine with an optical to coax converter. Optical only and Auto Digital Sound Out.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

how do you remote the LG via the Beosystem?

With PUC and how is the technical way to do this?

What about remote turn on and off the LG and switching through TV, Netflix,

Apple TV 4 etc.?

Greats and thanks!!

I have an Beosystem 4.

To control the LG I used a Beo5 remote control. It took a lot of tinkering and worked well. But, I far prefer the Beo 4 so I have bought a LinTronic. I asked my local dealer if they can put LG TV codes into the  Beosystem 3 and they said it is not possible.

Thanks Johan. My. Sound menus looks slightly different but I'll give it a go tonight. Do you also have an HDMI cable connected. I only have the DVI to HDMI connected.

Hi Stoobie, my BeoSystem3 has HDMI outputs, but I am confident that that is not the problem. I also have connected the digital coax (from the toslink to sp-dif) to AV2. Let me send you a photograph of that setting also (in Dutch though).

Thanks for all the suggestions but none worked. My sound menus on the TV are slightly different but none of the options seem to work. I think I might have to check my convertor box as that may not be working! I can see red light down the Toslink cable so assume the TV out is working.

What I plan to do is disconnect everything on the weekend, reset the Beosystem and start from scratch.

That's a pity Stoobie. Maybe a faulty converter indeed. Mine is this one:

There is no indicator light even, so I was crossing fingers too when I set it up lately! I powered it with a USB cable and I did buy a specific coax sp/dif cable as I assumed a normal rca/cinch cable would not work.

Hope you will get it working soon!

I hope this is not true! I was planning to try and do this sometime with my BS3!

Johan,

You may find a dealer that will do that for you but my local dealer emailed me to say it is not possible. I cannot understand why it is not possible. The discrete codes for LG OLEDTVs are vailble oline. I downloaded ON & OFF and put it on my Beo5 so they must be able to do it. I think you need to find a dealer who knows how to use the PUC tool properly.

Using PUC-codes on a BSys3/4 is a common thing.....just like when you have a projector or a bathroom-tv connected.

However these PUC were made to activate and shut off the external device/monitor.

This means that your main source will still be the BSys3/4 - the inbuild and connected sources there.

They weren’t meant to control the connected monitor, in your case the LG - the builtin sources there and to get sound from these.

So your dealer will be right - this won’t work.

The only way to make this work is to use the Lintronic solution or maybe a *for controlling the LG-tv’s) modified Beo4 from the Oneremote company. But you would still be controlling two different devices - no seemless integration.

And when you think about it.....why should B&O make the recent solution in cooperation with LG using a dedicated software installed on the actual LG tv (like with the BV Eclipse/Harmony or the BS Stage), if what you aim at would be a lot easier?

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

This is not correct - maybe it is not possible for B&O, but it is possible to make such PUCs, including control of all functions of thrd party TV (LG, Samsung...) just read the link I posted above - Stoobie and MM should know better, as they were involved in that thread...

I was involved in that thread and that is why I contacted my local B&O store to ask them to update my PUC. And they said they cannot.

Yes, because they don`t have the PUC - because U. (comeonbert) made the PUC, not B&O...

send your BS3 to comeonbert.

Getting back to the original issue, my new convertor and cables arrived and I've tried connecting it and still no luck. I think I'll need to disconnect everything, reset the Beosystem and start from scratch.

It's very frustrating especially as my TV is on the wall and getting to the connections is not so easy.

That's weird Stoobie. Let me know if you think I can help you with photographs of any menu setting. Happy to change the menu language into English Smile, and send photographs of connections when you are in doubt.

We MUST get this to work!Angry

Hi Johan, sorry for the long delay in responding. Last weekend I decided to really get stuck in to this problem.

My TV is wall mounted, so very difficult to get access to the connections. I eventually connected from the audio out/headphone output and that is working for my need at the moment.

It also took a lot of sorting in the connections menu on the BS3.

Thanks for your offer if photos.

Not sure if I can help. I have a similar problem when I got my BS3 and I am sure everything is connected correctly but no sound. Eventually, I have to play around my Beoremote 1 product setting to control beosound (instead of beovision or whatever) and suddenly there is sound. Confused

As for control my LG, BS3, and Apple TV, I use a logitech Harmony remote and have been perfect so far.
