Beosystem 2500 tape earth lead

Hello all,

My Beosystem 2500 (new to me this week) needed a good clean after arriving from eBay.

I took it apart and found an earthing lead from the tape deck loose.

Trouble is I can't find where to reconnect it to!

Could someone please help me with this? Pictures attached.

I can't really see where the loose wire is, even in the picture where it should be in focus.
Is it the grey wire? If so I do remember it goes to the playhead I believe.

Hi thanks for your reply. I saw this guide before but couldn't spot the lead I have on mine.

It's the black lead in my picture. It's attached to the lower right corner of the tape deck (as seen from the rear) and has an FS spade connector on the end (which isn't connected to anything.

I've looked for a shoe connector onto which the spade might join but can't see anything.

There is a spade connector in front of the tapedeck to the bottom right(when looking from behind), just about where you can see wire in your picture. You need to remove the front panel, and possibly the tapedeck again, to get to it. It is kind of "hidden" but you should be able to find if if you get some good light in there.

It is located along the guide for the glass and wires, so make sure to connect it so the wires can run free. If you remove the tapedeck you can see it clearly.

Thanks v much for helping out.

So I'm back inside the 2500 now - I think I can see the spade connection you mean on the tape deck chassis.

So my problem is where does the larger spade connector go?

The large spade end is just loose inside. The other end is attached to the tape deck chassis already.

Update:

I've found the spade connector you mean - and there's already a lead in place.

This lead fixes from underneath the tape deck chassis to the bottom right corner as you described.

However there is another black lead with spade connectors attached to the same bottom corner which needs locating.

That's my issue :)

Update: possibly solved.

Ok so I took out the tape deck and found what looked like what could be a connection for my loose spade connector

From the front of the unit, behind where the Bang & Olufsen name is printed, is a potential anchor point for a spade connector.

It has a white lead soldered to it.

(Here's me holding the spade connector near to hopefully the right connector)

The tape deck chassis is held in place by four silver phillips screws. The lower right screw has a black earth lead attached to it, which connects by spade to a flat connection behind the right hand (from the rear) glass door rail runner.

But it seems my loose lead could have been screwed to the wrong side after a previous owner replaced tape deck belts perhaps?

This alternative is located to the left (from the rear).

I shall reconnect and test. This effectively means the tape deck chassis will now have two earths

I'm wondering also if by putting this lead in place correctly the door opening sensors might work a bit better, because sometimes it takes several attempts to open the glass doors.

Solved.

Doors open properly now. 'Spare' lead now rehomed.

Job done.
