This BC7002 has been working without fault for 6 weeks. Today I noticed the vu leds were on when playing a record or when using radio, this was intermittent and did not bother me.
Then when playing tape fault happened all LEDs lit and a loud Machine Gun effect on the audio.
I have disconnected set from mains supply for 5 minutes, but same intermittent results when plugged in again.
I see C9 C10 C11 could cause the fault and I intend replacing them first. The display is not always "full on" with red LEDs flashing, sometimes 1 green LED is on, sometimes more are on.
I have had a lot of time looking at the circuit and can not find where the wires from Plug 29 go. Had a good look on Diagrams 2 and 5. help please.
I do not want to do a blanket change of caps, Could dirty contacts on a relay cause this fault?
I have never tried to set the timer for the tape.
Any Ideas of fault before I open set up.
TFL, John.
Replace the two relays on the tape controller board as the first thing. They are known troublemakers.
Martin
Thank you Martin, Don't these relays respond to cleaning contacts?
John.
Hi Martin, Before I open set, can you supply me with two relays?
That depends on the exact type used.Start with a blast of contact spray. It will not be a lasting solution but it will tell you if you're on the right track.
I think I have cured problem with switch cleaner, just hope I have not spoken to soon. Both relays have part no 7600045 relay 6v. Two different relays were fitted, one had markings "Type C2V-2 6volts the other looked vey similar but height measurement was different, and no markings. Any one know coil resistance ? I know I should have measured when I was there.
