This is the second Archived Forum which was active between 1st March 2012 and 23rd February 2022
I'm completely new to this forum, so thanks for reading and hello there.
Me and my partner have recently bought a Beocenter 2002 and separately got hold of a pair of Type M loudspeakers which are 3-5ohm, and the person we got them from told us they measured 3.6ohm on their multimetre.
We boldly connected everything and much to our surprise everything's working together; alas I'm too scared to turn the volume up higher than 1 (!)
Is this going to be incredibly short-lived? I am reluctant to continue usage as I fear the ohm is way too low for the Beocenter.
I'm a complete novice (clearly!) and would really appreciate some advice - do we ditch the speakers?
Thanks for reading,
cheers.
Welcome to Beoworld !
Not the ideal combination but it will work. The 1980s Beocenter will sound better with more modern speakers (Beovox S40 and up) andthe 1960s Type M speakers will give much better results if used with a tube amplifier.Don't ditch the speakers, if in fair condition they are easily worth more than the Beocenter.
