Hello all BeoFans!
I just joined the forum and am looking forward to contribute. Unfortunately first I start with a question - I have recently acquired a beatufiful beogram 4002 in unknown condition (ebay). It was very well and securely packed. After plugging it in and adding the missing tone pickup system I realized that the arm went out but did not stop at the beginning of the 33lp but went till the end and back, also the table was not turning.
Hence my first question - does the pickup system only find the beginning of the record if it is turning?
I found a great article about Beogram 4000/4002/6000 restoration on condoraudio and followed it to disassemble it. Afer finally getting off the first alluminium square part - it somehow snapped and did not want to be taken off - I realized the first -missing main drive belt - i ordered one and should get it tomorrow.
Further checked tonearm mechanics - nothing dried out and stuck. I oiled it anyway to make sure.
After comparing with the picture on the restoration guide for restoration I got a little bit confused - I realized that there was a little part connecting the cables (sorry for my vocabulary - dont know the exact electricical words) - now i dont know if someone took it of/broke it of, since it is obvious on the screws that someone did some (repair)work on the beogram or whether I only have the feeling because the guide used another type of beogram. For specifics please see the attached pictures. The first with one red circle around the area is my Beogram, the one with several circles is from the guide with a blue arrow showing the missing part in mine.
I will be very thankful for any advise on the matters and will keep you posted once i get it working.
I also acquired a Beomaster 3000-2 to complete the set - also not working (not possible to turn it on after plugging in - seems to be dead). Will start to work on this one soon.
Thanks Red
Here picture from the guide.
The diode that the blue arrow points to has been added by Condor as a belt and braces approach.
On your Beogram, the diode will be fitted, as standard, on the underside of the board.

Hi Graham,
thanks for the answer. Do you have any idea about the problem described in the top - that the tonearm did not find the beginning of the record? The light is working. Is it because the table is not turning?
Thank you!
Red
Yes definitely. The system looks for the frequency off the turntable markings passing the detector on the fixed arm.
No chance of it working unless the t/t is turning.
