Hello, I have the opportunity to buy a used Avant and it has no remote. What can I do to test the unit to make sure it works properly? Can I attach my video camera and play a tape from the camera and will this show up on the screen? When I turn on the unit I get the snow from the Tv channel, the color on the screen is greenish not white. Thank you all for your answers in advance. Best Helmut

Hi Helmut,

the greenish colour on the sreen could mean the tube is damaged.

When you see the greenish screen, connect your camera to the sockets on the top of Avant. Turn the camera on and when detecting a video signal the Avant will switch to the camera socket automaticly. So you can test the tube.

Tauber thanks. I only get the green screen when I change the channels. I also got a grey screen with lines across it. But indeed I will connect the camera on top and see if and what the picture looks like. camera will be switched  automatically by the Tv to playdirectly to the screen

The Green screen is only when I set the Avant to Tv mode and turn the channel selector up or down. I also got a grey screen with lines across it. Thanks for your response. Best Helmut

thin lines across the screen could mean the tube or something expensive is on its way out!  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!!

Thanks Nick. So if I plug the camera into the top plugs and turn it on, press play, then the Tv will automatically switch and the camera image should appear on the screen? Best Helmut
