with every purchase comes another enjoyable dilemma.
just taken ownership of a 9300 BeoCentre and now not sure what I should do for loud speakers. Do I go for period pieces that fit with the design era or do I mate the 9300 with modern pieces that may be more dynamic.
any suggestions ?

I use Beovox S120 with my Beosystem 6500 and I like how it looks combined and the sound. I might upgrade to Beolab Penta or other in the future depending on the living situation but that how it might go.
For my original white Beosystem 6000 I do use Beovox S80s which is more period correct though M150 is currently connected as they are in the same room. The S80 and S120 came at the same time and I got both pairs back in 2008. The S120 is more period correct about 1982 I guess but S80 works fine with the 6000 and looks cool. so do the M150s but they are teak!
I got half of the Beovox's that came with the Beosystem 6500 which were CX50 and CX100 but only 1 of each so they are parts waiting for restoring and a mate.
Beolab or Beovox Penta.

Beovox 3000/5000 or Beolab 4500/5000 Flat Panels. I can realy recomend them and they would be optical perfect mach too.

I would stick to powered speakers if I was you. The amp in the 9300 is very average. I found it was not powerful enough to run rl6000's. They just sounded lame, not dynamic at all. They sounded like a totally different speaker with other amps. Some people may disagree, but obviously must have never heard decent speakers properly set up. Good luck! Beolab 6000's mated with a beolab 11 is a good set up. Much better than lab 3's. The lack of midrange is very dissapointing.
Beolab 8000's were sold along the 9300 (1993-2000) and were the suggested match at the time. I had 8000's with my 9300, and it was a beautiful looking set up. I tried the RL's with the 9300, the 8000's kick their butt with this set up. You need a beomaster to run RL60's and above for best performance. Doesn't matter if you want volume, they just miss the depth and clarity that a stronger amplifier gives them. I ran RL's 60's & 6000's with a Cambridge Audio amp, and a musical fidelity amp, and they sounded absolutely stunning. They did not with the 9300. Acceptable, but average, nothing special. The 8000's were much better. You'll just have to judge for yourself. That's part of the fun I guess with sound equipment....
