Seems like another big day is almost upon us..

http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1397110120

Let the way off the mark rumours begin.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Wasn't that already announced from the dealers in the UK?

In DK some of them are inviting for an event with 'a presentation of two new products'.

Pretty sure it's a BV (the 'new Avant') and a new speaker (BL20).

As far as I know on that day there will be a general launch somewhere(?-where).

I have been told at least three products or four possibly

I suspect the new remote counts as a new product ?

It's true avant 55 is cheaper than 1155

The tv speaker is curved and is reminescent of the av5

I suspect 1155 and 40 will go?

Heard that bo is aggressively clearing out things that don't sell won't be surprised that even bl3 would go-that will be a sad day

Quotation from the recent interim report:

"In the fourth quarter of the 2013/14 financial year, Bang & Olufsen will launch a new generation TV and a new high-end speaker in the wireless speaker range."

They might lower the price of the BV11? I am also seeing a lot of used 11s on ebay at the moment so perhaps people with inside knowledge

are selling them to recover more of their money before the Avant is presented.

Doubt that, but my dealer *insists* I should wait for the new TV announcement before considering any other B&O TV options. He claims I'll be very surprised.

Only thing would surprise me, is very competitive pricing, so maybe the new TV will be very competitively priced.

Do you have a reason to doubt that? Without the trade-in offer the 11-55 is a lot more expensive.

The new Avant has a 4K-panel and most likely the same features or more.

For now I don't see any reason to buy a BV11, unless the price goes (way) down.

I'll be at the "Grand Launch" in London on the 8th of May.  Yes - thumbs up

Would you guys like me to do one of my reviews - or just leave the details to trickle out anyway?

I'm also waiting... the thing is that if for some reason the design sucks (or better, does not suit the living room according to the house Chief Interior Design Officer...), I'm stuck because I'm definitely not impressed with the angle of vision of the BV11, compared to my current BV10.

Anyway, my dealer swears on 4K and CHF 3000 less than the BV11. The 11-55 costs ~13000 CHF (with the motorised stand and a Beo4) without taking into account the trade-in (CHF 1850 over here). Not a dramatic decrease.

He also said that the TV has all features of the 11 (Smart TV, Wisa, 3D) and "more"...

The viewing angle on the bv11 is the worst thing about it.

OH and the lack of any on tv controls...

The problem, for me anyway, is that there are no miracles.

If the Beovision Avant 2014 is surprisingly cheapper than it's predecessors, something will be "wrong".

The build quality can't be the same, the materials and components can't be the same...

The "Country of origin : Denmark" sign will have to go.

Really hope I'm totally wrong though and that will have the most outstanding Tv ever made in Denmark for 5.000 €.

The viewing angle on LCD/LED is the worst thing about it. Not much B&O can do about that.

Lack of any on TV controls?

I've never had the need to turn on the TV on the actual TV it self. Who does that?

I will almost guarantee that you will not see that on any of B&Os future TVs. It will just add to the complexity of both design and technical requirements, without adding any real benefits for 99.9% of users.

With regards to viewing angles you just have to accept the limitations of the LCD technology. Sure they could use another type of LCD panel, but that would just make the blacks look awful. B&O have addressed this in the own fashion, by giving the option to buy a motorized stand or wall bracket.

Beovision Eclipse gen2 (GX) w/ floorstand, Beolab 14.2, 4 speaker Shape and ATV4/Chromecast.

What about a round wheel on the wall a long way from my sofa so I can walk up to it to adjust the volume and turn it off and on :)

Imagine how fit I'll be after all that walking!

I don't whant a new Beovision that feels cheap (ie. made of plastic for example). I whant a new Beovision made like my previous Beovisions : aluminium and glass or anything equivalent and good looking. If I can get that plus the usual other things (motorised stand, good sound and picture, curtains...danish sticker) for cheap, I can assure I won't cry !

I think you will have it all - apart from the 'danish sticker'.

I don't know what will be on the 'stickers' - but 'Made in Denmark - Assembled in the Czech Republic' wouldn't sound bad at all, imo.

The BV10-46 and BV11-46 will use the same panel. They won't be sourced differently. However, a new BV10 will have a newer version of the panel than an older BV11 - my BV10-32 is, for example, quite a few months newer than my BV11 and has a slightly sharper panel and, arguably, a wider viewing angle.

So, if your BV10-46 is a relatively recent purchase, it might actually have a newer and more up-to-date panel then the BV11.

Logicaly, BV 10-46 stopped being produced when BV 11-46 was launch so it can't have a newer panel.

The exception being the BV 10-32 still in production (no BV 11-32) that can have a newer panel than a previous BV 11.

I also prefered in many ways (appart the darks) the picture of my BV 10 than the one on my BV 11.

I don't think it applies to my case. We got the BV 10 in March 2012, and it was in stock at my dealer, so it's unlikely the panel is newer.

Anyway, I was just told that the Avant will be initially available in 55", and in August there will be a 85". They also mentioned a third size, but I can't remember if they said 65 or 75.

I was also told that the stand will be the same regardless of the TV size, and they said to expect it to be quite predominant in a 55" setup... cost savings again I guess...

No, the BV10 was current product until reasonably recently. As I said above, my BV10-32 is a "2013" model, whereas my BV11 is from "2012". The BV10 was still being manufactured through 2013. So, it's wrong to say production stopped when the BV11 was launched. The BV10 was simultaneously available to order for many months after the BV11 was launched. The BV10 and BV11 will have shared panels during this period.

I thought only the 10-32 is produced longer in 2013 as the 10-40/46.

BV10 and BV11 can't share the same panels. The BV11 was 3D from the beginning, so it's always a newer panel...

Actually you can get a Samsung 4K TV with 55 inches at Amazon for 2.600 EUR. Why on earth would be the new Avant with a Samsung 4K panel for 7.500 EUR (without motorized stand) too cheap???

I do not call it 'cheap' - I would rather call it 'less expensive'.

BeoGreg was concerned that 'less expensive' would mean 'cheap'.

I am not afraid of that.

Really - Räuber - do you want a Samsung at your place? Even if it has a 4K panel!

I don't - I want a BV, and am pleased that in Struer they finally have realized that even a BV must get less expensive than it used to be.

Out with the old.  In with the new.

Even if the BL3 is discontinued, the newer product will be better.  I love my BL3s although I don't use them that much.  But if they had inbuilt wireless and all the stuff of the newer speakers - you would definitely chose the one with the more fruit.

BL3.1 onward and upward.

Can't wait to see the new TV and the new stereo (whenever that is coming).

Only the BV 10-32 remained after the introduction of BV 11-40 and 46.

Of course if a dealer had BV 10-40 or 46 in stock he could still sell them in 2013.

I spoke with my dealer at lunch and he said they were able to (and did) order the BV10-40 and 46 long after the launch of the BV11, through B&O. It wasn't dealer-stock. B&O kept them in production for people who wanted a masterlink TV. You can't get them now of course, but you could for a while after the 2012 BV11 release.

So, is the bv 12-65 being discontinued? I was so close to buy it until I read about the new announcement planned for may 8th.

Thankfully, the reps at B&o could not give me any technical answer to my questions (I'm still waiting) before committing to the BV.
