Does the Beomusic app work with BS5? If it does how do you do it please. Must the BS5 be on a wireless network?

Thanks in excited anticipation.

No - it is for the Essence only.

Thanks MM

So whty does it say " BeoMusic App treats external media the same way as local files. You can add NAS, PC or BeoMaster 5 collections via DLNA and browse them within a single, consistent interface."

How does the Essence connect to a Beosound 5 this is all confusing.

That must be confusing, if you are not familiar to DLNA streaming, clients and servers etc..!

The BeoMusic app does not connect to the BS5 - it can (amongst others) use the files/the music stored on the BM5, because on the BM5 there is a DLNA server running (Twonky).

The BS5Encore can do the same, as well as the mediaplayer in the new BV's.

B&O ought to specify that a bit, since costumers often don't understand how these things work. The could say: "You can use the music organized through the DLNA servers running on ......or BeoMaster5.....and browse them within a....."

Generally it works just like the Playmaker.

You connect the PL-out to your speakers alternatively with an adapter cable to a Aux-in of a BeoMaster to get the sound out of it.

You 'feed' it with music through a DLNA app (that is called the control point) - this can connect to a DLNA server somewhere on the same network (BM5 or alike) either wired or wireless.

Especially for the Essence B&O made the BeoMusic app, which in addition (to rhe DLNA functions) gives you the opportunity of managing the netradio (TuneIn), which is built into the Essence box, as well as to make the settings of the box.

Of cource you can also AirPlay to it from an AirPlay device/app and (unlike the Playmaker) you can use it for Spotify Connect.

No big deal really to set it up - it has to be in the same network (wired or wifi) as the device with the app and the server.

The connections were shown a long time ago - as Tue presented the 'knob' and the box, you could see the connections on the back of the box. .

And of cource there is the 'knob - this connects to the box via bluetooth.

Have a look at the userguide on the B&O website too

Hi,

I have a related question. Currently I only have the Beomaster 5 connected to a Beovision 7. I downloaded the BeoMusic App hoping it would see the BM5 but it does not. Do I need an Essence or Beosound 5 before this will work? Or am I missing something?

Thanks,

Koert

The BeoMusic app will only work with the Essence (box)!

But there are several other 'control point' app's that you could use - PlugPlayer, 8Player.....

N.B. I am not sure that the Twonky server is installed on a BM5 in a 'BM5/BV7 only' combination?

It  needs to be cleared - if not, there is no server to be used from other devices/app's.

Try one of the DLNA-app's  - that will let you know.

Which SW-version is installed on the BM5?

Thanks millemissen, that works.

I started the twonky server via service menu and now I can see the BM5 on my ipad.

Maybe you can give me some advice. My local B&O dealer here in LA has not clue, all they want to do is sell me a new TV...

I currently have bunch of B&O speakers linked to BV7. BS9000 and BM5 all Masterlinked with BV7 and working. But  music control is via TV which is a pain. I like to use ipad/phone to start/stop music play from BM5. So my questions are:

- would you buy a Beosound 5?

- This Essence, can it work with a BM5 or do I need the new Essence box as well?

- How does this Masterlink GW  play into this? Will adding that help me in anyway?

- Finally I have a bunch of B&O speakers in my bedrooms not connected to Masterlink but I like to connect it to the above setup. What is the best way without pulling a cable? There seems to be a Beo sender / receiver?

Thanks so much!!

Koert
