Hi
I have just purchased a new BV11 suporting WiFi and DLNA Band now I am trying to watch videos from my pc threw Wi-Fi. Format is mp4 and mkv. The problem is that mkv files never show up and mp4 does it sometime but not always. My question is WHY?
Both PC and TV are on the same wifi net. I have never had any problem playing music threw homemedia but video is a struggle. What could be the problem?Thank you for any help in this issue.
Hi,
Are you using a DLNA server on your pc? Which one?
Some servers are outrageous slow... When it works, is your picture stuttering sometimes?
I throw my cents on your wifi connection (unreliable maybe)

HiNo DLNA server is involved so I am using wifi and the tv finds videos in avi. and sometimes mp4. format without problem but no MKV.WiFi distance is short and videos has never stuttered.

MKV is a container format, but it can contain different types of video compression/sampling rates. So it is possible that your mkv files are in a format or sampling rate not supported by the BV11.
You could try to use FFMpeg, Wondershare, Freemake… (all on Windows platform) to transcode the mkv file in another format. Or install a DLNA server on your pc who does transcode it automatically, for example UMS, Twonky, Plex…
Is it the same situation with mp4 files?

As you can see in the next link:

This link of playable formats counts for BV11 and Beo V1.

Wait, you need a DLNA-server to serve the files to the TV. Perhaps your PC is serving the files it knows? Like Windows Media center etc? You should try other software, such as PS3 media server or Plex to name a few.
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
I am using the DLNA server in Windows 7 , guess I have been doing that without thinking of it as such.

I am not a Windows user any longer, but to the best of my knowledge MKV has never been supported on Windows with its built-in tools.
Personally, I use Plex Media Server to serve and transcode videos to all my devices (it is also DLNA compliant).
I dont think it supports files such as mkv and mp4. Microsoft want to use their own favourite formats. Thats why you can see avi for example. You can easily install alternative DLNA servers that is much better, they will serve files more "transparently" than the Windows server do. I also use Plex, and PS3 media server. The BV11 can decode most formats on its own so no need to have transcoding on the server mostly.
Part of the problem is solved. The pc wasnt configured right to share files over the network. To share videos from a Windows PC using their DLNA service you have to place the videos in Windows Media Player. When that was done the problem with mp4 files not showing up in the BV11 was solved. No extra softwear was needed then what Windows 7 already had.I will work on the MKV. files and see what I can do about them.
Oh! Windows

Fully agree!
