Hello all,

I have a BeoLink 7000 that won't hold a charge. If I put it on the charger base it will turn on but it won't charge. I guess the battery needs to be replaced. I also saw that a few people have replaced the electroluinescence behind the screen but I´m not sure I need to do that, the screen is still very readable.

Any tips on what I should order for it? I found a few threads on the archived forum where different success was found with different batteries. Is the original batteries still possible to aquire (Sanyo I think?).

Hi,

I replaced my battery the other month I got mine from here:

http://www.beovienna.com/products/akkupack-battery-pack-f-beolink-7000

I think it was a sanyo one when it came, but the website says that Sanyo has been purchased by panasonic. They have worked well and was delivered quickly.

As for the screen mine has gone very dim and is only just readable so would like to know if anyone out there can replace the screens (have found the old threads and think this is beyond my capabilities)?

I bought from the same place. It has to be Ni-Cd batteries. Ni-Mh will not last long (due to the charging caracteristic).

There no gain in aiming for higher capacity then the originals.

A long list...

Thanks for the advice. I ordered the same battery now!

The screen on this Beolink 7000 is readable so I won't replace it now but it would be fun to do. I hope you find help to fix it.

Hi Beo-people,

I also have a BeoLink 7000 with a damaged battery pack. Since Beovienna will not ship to California, I need to find another supplier.

Can I replace the Nickel Cadmium pack with a NiMH pack such as this one?

http://www.all-battery.com/6v2000mahnimhreceiverbatterypackwithtabsforairplane.aspx

If not, does anyone know of a supplier that can ship a replacement pack for the BeoLink to the USA?

Thanks!

Yes you can but the charging characteristics are different, it won't hold charge or work for long.  It is best to use the NiCd batteries and not NIMH packs. This has been discussed many times here on Beoworld and people have had all sorts of problems using NIMH packs.

Is it due to an import restriction to the US that BeoVienna won't ship?  If so, you may have to try a 'back door' approach from a friendly member who can buy you one and send it to you.  Just doubles the shipping costs.

Dave.

I've just looked at BeoViennas eBay page and he does ship to the USA so what is the problem?

Under shipping, you just have to look for 'vereinigte Staaten von Amerika'.

Is anyone experiencing a humming sound from the Beolink 7000 after battery replacement?

Yes, my Beolink 7000 is also "humming", more a high-pitch whining though.. It is quite normal I guess, it is the 110v supply to the backlight that causes this.

My first BL7000 from 1994 or so, also did it with the original batteries.

Hi Dave -- thanks for the suggestion to try the alternate page.

I just added the product to my card, then, when I tried to pay via PayPal, it gave me an error that said they the address was outside the shipping range. I will try again and see what the cost is.

Re NiCad vs. NiMh: Ok, I see there are other threads about this. What I'm finding when I search electronics parts suppliers in the US is that 6-cell AA packs are available for ~ $10. I don't mind having to charge more frequently (as this will mostly sit in the cradle) but I'm worried that a pack like this won't quite fit inside the remote:

Any thoughts?

Thanks again for all the help!

Great Smile I am selling my system, and it is nice to be able to say that it is normal instead "it could use a service" Stick out tongue
