I bought this system a few years ago and just set it up---I plugged the one Beolab speaker that had a cable into the 2300 and had a B/O 7 pin cable into the other speaker--I noted that the 2300 works with headphones--Do I have the correct cables? I used these speakers a few years ago and they were fine. Curious why there are plugs int he speakers -I know they are self powered ( am I missing some a piece of equipment?). Would appreciate anyone's advice.

As far as I know a 7 pin DIN connector cable is meant for data(link) and 8 pin DIN for powerlink!
So probably you are using the wrong cable.

You need a powerlink cable that has a 8 pole DIN connector at both sides.
Check this!
I don't think Beolab 2500s need/use the signal on pin 8 for anything, so that shouldn't be a problem... but if the cable only has 7 pins, it's not any official Powerlink cable and could be connected which ever way, thus not doing the job.
But, in this context "self powered" doesn't mean the speakers will work without power Do you have them connected to mains?

again thanks--curious there was a short cable attached to the Beolab 2500 speaker with 5 pins----when it worked--- ( I think)
just found a set of 8 pin cables-set it up hard to connect( very tight fit) to the 2300 and yet NO sound--again headphones work --does this tell anyone something/anything?

As Mika said, hope you have powered the Beolabs to the mains.
Is there a led that lights up red or green at the front bottom of your Beolab speaker?
This is a coincidence because I have fixed both my Beolabs 2500 today with help of Ipaul.
Replaced 2 resistors and voila!

so here is the latest- I think I have it figured out but would apprecaite your inputs
I have a second 2300 which works well with a set of Pentas--SO i switched the units and the unit attached to the 2500 worked just fine-than I took the cables I was using on the first go around and they worked with the unit and the Pentas leaving me to say the speakers are not working-- ( there is no visible light on them-didnot know they had a power light) now I havent used these guys in 4years and they were working fine than ( and only used them a bit of time) so, what does snyone think is wrong with them?
all this movong of units got me to dust-yeah
where are the resistors located and how difficult is it to do? and where do you purchase resistors?

If you take a close look at the back you will see 2 other connectors adjacent to the powerlink 8 pin connector. One of the two (male) is for the mains and must be connected to the outlet socket, like your Beocenter 2300.

What Leslie means is that you will have to connect a cable from each speaker to a wall outlet, so now you will have 4 cables connected, 2 cables from amplifier/receiver to each one speaker, or one cable to one speaker from Receiver/amplifier and one cable from speaker to speaker, and 2 cables connected from each one speaker to a power outlet on the wall, or one double plug extension cord where you connect the the 2 power cables coming from each one speaker, its really quite simple if you read the written instruction in the manual which is available onsite for silver and gold members if there are no lights on your speakers (green, red or yellow) something is wrong. Check all connections and clean them properly, thereafter connect everything again, if still no lights, check the power outlets together with a classified electrician (class A+ will do), but if your amplifier/receiver is connected to the same wall power outlet as the speakers and shows lights maybe you wont need a certified electrician, because then the power outlet is working.
I hope this simple explanation will help you, just follow it step step.If it does not work after following the instructions, send a mail to Leslie and he will continue helping you.

So I need to plug in each speaker--but I have seemed to have misplaced the cord--can anyone suggest what type of cord/adapter I need and where I can obtain them?

And make sure that the 2300 is set in option 1 (A-opt 1). Not option 0 if it's used with a videomaster.

Many many thanks to thif forum which always comes through--After careful inspection of the 2500 speakers I noted that the necessary power cord seemed to match up with the same ones used on my printer- I did have 2 of them, plugged them in and yes red lights went green and wonderful wound emerged- so after some of my dull questions were addressed here I am up and working- Beoworld is a great resource.

So must be the speaker. Opened the speaker and on the service manual they ask to check the voltage between 22R86 and 22R83 (Protection) it should be approx. 17.5V
My problem I cannot find these on the PCB 22
I must miss something here, the seller said they were working before he shipped them. I got 100 euros refund from the seller as I wanted to return them to him.
Now they sit near my other B&O with nice blue cover but no sound I know one day I will get them fixed, so if that happened to someone, I take all you know here.

You don't get the red LED standby light in EITHER speaker, or just one? Did you plug the Beolabs 2500 into power? I find it highly unlikely that BOTH speakers would be completely dead as they are completely electrically independent. Moreover, the Beolab 2500s are pretty robust and they aren't known for problems with the standby transformers.
That is why I said : I must miss something here
Both have no red light.
I suppose they work like the penta's, when you plug the power cord the red light should turn on, and the green light turns on with the ouverture.
Or the seller did not say everything !!!! as he told me that they were both turning on when shipped.
