Hi Guys,
I literally just purchased a set of Beolab 18's (replacing Beolab 3's) and are using them with a Beovision 11-55" & rear Beolab 3's.My issue with them is the bass, so I have ordered a Beolab 11 to compliment this.
Although now with the Beolab 20 out, should I return the 18's, cancel the 11 and just go with the 20's?
I hope my B&O centre have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee?
ThanksTC
@splud
If your BeoShop can refund your BeoLabs 18 with the BeoLab 11, change them for BeoLabs 20. The best choice for sound and aesthetic !
Well after a quick phone call, they agreed to exchange the Beolad 18's and the Beolab 11 for the new Beolab 20's, they just gotta check the prices and availability (Australian). Awesome local shop (although they are 500 km's away!)
Hope I'm doing the right thing as my wife prefers the look of the 18's!!
Well, ultimately there is probably no right or wrong to your decision.
Would consider though keeping the BL18. What about returning the 11 and buying 20 on-top? If budget a concern, why not return the 11 and wait 1-2 years to add the 20 to the 18? In my view, the BL18 are amazing speakers and the wooden grill is the most iconic product in the current portfolio.
Also, there may be a new BL5 coming out, which may again change your mind. Anyone has heard the most recent on this?
Seen the Beolab 18 for the first time when I went to see the new avant both stunning and do i sell my beolab 1's all for and get the 18's hmmm.....
Beolab 18 is beautiful. Beolab 9 or better Beolab 20, sound good and much better than the 18.
I'd keep the 18 and add the 11. Love the way they look.

Really? I own BL3s (with a BL11) and BL18's and the BL18's completely outperform the BL3/BL11 combo. Not only this, everyone I've demo'ed the BL18's, including my local B&O dealership, all agree the BL18's sound better *without* a sub! There's plenty enough bass. When I added the BL11 sub and the sound is a bit more muffled.
I also owned two pairs of BL9s, but didn't like them for audio - much better for movies, where the dynamic range suited uncompressed Blu-ray tracks.
On top of this, I much prefer the look of the BL18s.
@moxxey, that might the first time I hear that.
I absolutely adore the BL9 for music.
Thanks for all the input, I've decided to keep the BL18's. I think that maybe I've not set up the Beovision 11 properly as I've been waiting for the new software update, once it's out I'll spend some time setting everything up and then decide if I need to get a BL11.
Cheers TC
Hereford: @moxxey, that might the first time I hear that.
Others have said it, too. I found the BL9 to be quite 'mid range' for audio, but much better for movies. I owned two pairs. Remember we all have different ears, so sound for one person is a lot different for another. That's why everyone should have their own demo first. As an example, I love the brighter sound you get from the BL3s and BL18s, but others prefer the sound you get from BL4000s or BL8000s, which have no ALTs.
But, to be fair, I didn't even know the pot settings existing until I'd sold them - so they might have been setup poorly as I bought both pairs pre-loved.

Instead of getting a BL11, why not aim for a BL 19 instead. It will give you more and deeper bass than the 11 will.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Out of idle curiosity, which store ?
I'm considering the Beolab 11 as I used to have the Beolab2 but that was just so overpowered, we always had it on minimum settings! So I thought, our room is quite small so an 11 should suffice.
As to the store its the one in Subiaco, Perth, a very friendly and helpful team! :)
Anyway I've got to go to Perth on Tuesday so I'll pop in and listen to there 18's with the 19 Sub and see how much difference it makes, but as i said before; It could be that I've just not set the speakers up right as I'm waiting for the new software for the Beovision 11, anyone know when it's coming out?
