Hello

I cam across a BM8000 with some problems.

Half of the led were dead but got them all working again (bad connection between board)

Remaining problem is this: TP1, TP2, PH works perfect. But the tuner is another story

I get noice ((like between two channel noice). Added to this noice: a "pulsing" noice that

seems to increase in frequency (pulsing) as I increase the fm-frequency (tuning)

The "vu-meter" is also pulsing.

Anybody got an idea?

Best regards Lofke

Hi,

I don't know if it can be related but today, when I opened my unit, I forgot to put back the tuner plug from the microcomputer, which is well hidden under those ribbon cables. Could it be a bad connection there? The plug is shown here, under the green circle :

Hi Jaques,

Yes the freq display is normal and bright as it should be.

When turning the freq dial it goes up and down as normal.

All i hear is static like it can’t find a radio freq.

then all of the sudden i hear a very short period ( say 3 seconds) radio ( freq 89,5)

but that goed away and leaves me with static again. Tuning it further the same radio freq comes up somewhere else ( around freq 95,5 or so)

Thats also 3 seconds and goes away.

i can do the same over and over again.

Okay then.

I'd double-check every connector (remember there's one between the two tuner boards) and only then would consider something else.

And "something else" could mean opening the processor and memory can...

I was afraid you were going to say that, but thats what i am going to do.

checked and doubled checked every conector and connection between boards.

stil no signal. so i will have to open up that memory box and resolder and check everything inside.

Well done then! And thanks for keeping us posted, much appreciated.

Funny you had an almost normal frequency display.
