I am currently refurbing my 2nd pair of CX100s. Refoam is now complete but they are really very scratched up (got 2 sets for the price of 1:))
In some places, they have scratches just about deep enough to see the wood!
They are white and I would really like to respray them. I am unsure about how much to sand off, choice of paint (hardness) and spray vs. roll.
If you have resprayed before I would greatly appreciate you sharing some experiences about process and materials.
CX100 made of wood, that's quite rare. :-)

I can see the material which the speaker is made of - in some of the scratches. Looks like the colour of MDF which is why I assumed it may be that.
What material is it, then? Plastic?
Aluminium. Sure your talking about CX100? Use fine sandpaper, primer, sanding and then spray. If the stripes at the sides are still okay then tape them off.
I'm absolutely certain they are CX100.
Instead of the base layer, it may then be something left from or stained by whatever created the scratches initially.
I'll give it a go with spraying them. It can't really get any worse, so nothing to lose.
How about the lettering on the front - any clever way of preserving that or re-creating it on the new paint?
I also cx 100 white, completely restored ... but they play with their low quality products. I will not buy another one.
My BeoCenter 7700, completely routed, deserves better.
