Dear members,

how do you clean the coated glass screens of the older CRT Beovisions? I find it pretty hard to get done without residue. Any hints are highly appreciated. Thanks very much.

By the way, is there a possibility to use a Beo 1 remote with a Beo 4 Beovision/center 1?

Greetings,

Kai

Dr. Becher Glas cleaner (German product, http://www.amazon.de/Becher-Glasfl%C3%A4chen-Glasreiniger-Spray-500ml/dp/B001ON6O5M ) works fine for me for several years now on Beovision Avant RF.

After spraying it onto the surface I am using paper towels to polish.

I have found, after testing many different cleaners and cloths, that only Monster-brand Plasma screen cleaner and its included micro-fiber, terry-style cloth is capable of cleaning both my Avant CRT and BV 9 AR screens effectively and safely.

Highly recommended!

Thanks very much! Anybody an idea how to use a Beo 4 Beocenter 1 with the Beo 1? It's supposed to work, but I don't know how...

Kai

I have a Beo 1 that I could not reprogramme to work with my Beocenter 1. There is a reprogramming method somewhere on either this forum or the archived forum. I seem to recall that reprogramming only works for 1 in 2 or 2 out of 3 Beo 1s.

Dear Graham,

I've seen that. However, I have three Beo 1s and it didn't work with any of them. Also, I've always thought that any Beovision 1 or Beocenter 1 could be operated with both, Beo 1 and Beo 4. At least in the manual it says that any Beo 1 Beovision 1 can also be operated by Beo 4. I've owned an earlier Beocenter 1 and no problem with either remote. Therefore, I've guessed that it should also work the other way round. But apparently not. I couldn't find anything in the menus (neither regular menu nor service menu) for changing the remote either. I've read somewhere on here that the remote can be changed in the service menu. I just don't seem to get the option. My Beocenter 1 is type 8531.

Greetings,

Kai

I find that cold (not warm or hot) soapy liquid is the best. Wipe with wet cloth dunked and then wring out ; and finish with dry soft cloth.

Just like the bend and snap "works every time"

I just did it the following way with a good to great result: 1st step: mild detergent on either paper roll or a special cloth for LCDs to remove most of the grease; 2nd step: foam cleaner with a micro-mesh cloth to mildly remove the rest of the grease; 3rd step: use a special KOI cloth (suited to all sorts of glass surfaces) for gently polishing with hardly any pressure - ideally before the foam cleaner has dried on the surface.

Looks like new again. I absolutely love the Beocenter 1. They are great looking and decent performers.

I'd be very happy if somebody knew anything about the Beo4/Beo1 issue.

Greetings,

Kai

I use an E-Cloth with great results. Just dampen with a little water and you're good to go. They clean brilliantly and I use them all over the home. This is the simplest and most effective way to clean you're B&O in my opinion.

E-Cloths - Great for B&O!

Use the General Purpose Cloth first (dampened with water) then polish off with the Glass & Polishing cloth.

Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

The Beo 1 trick worked for all my three Beo 1s. Seems that every Beo 1 is capable of being reprogrammed for use with all Beo 4 products. However, it takes some tries until the code works. Don't expect it to work right after the first try. Anyway, I would have expected that the Beo 1 can also be used with a newer Beocenter 1 the regular intended way but apparently that's not the case. After the reprogramming it functions basically like a simplified Beo 4 with reduced functionality (no digits).

Greetings,

Kai
