Popped into dealer yesterday and heard a little about the new audio system. Due for release in the autumn. It will be a unit that can be held in the hand or sat on the lap. Length is about as wide as a small laptop and as tall as the Bs5. A user interface with three coloured rings. The internal ring when activated plays most played music, middle ring plays something less familiar and outter ring would play something new or least played. I think the idea is similar to the Essence of one touch play without too much searching with an interface that learns what you most play to least played. You can of course do a search. Materials will be glass and wood the latter which I was rather excited to hear about harking back to the days of the old Beomasters. Will have so some sort of recharging floor stand. Has streaming from Deezer and of course Sotify and steaming from a NAS and can play HD tracks. This is was about all I took in whilst oggling the new Avant in the show room. I'm sure it will have more surprises.

First time I saw the Beosound 18 and 20 as well. Most beautiful and drop dead gorgeous. BL5 successor is in the pipeline but I think this is still a way off as no news beyond this. I think my savings account is going to be emptied later this year. I have not been this excited in years! Blown away..

Thanks for sharing these news!

As I see it - this device will need a receiver with connections for loudspeakers, ethernet/wifi.... too.

Sounds very interesting, even if these three rings - to me as an album listener and a searcher for what I want to hear - seems a bit 'too much'. I don't want an interface that 'learns what you most play...'. I want an interface that lets me find, what I want to play in an easy way.

We'll see when it arrives....

...or more details are revealed Stick out tongue

Finally an NL sound system... and finally what the Beosound 5 should have been from the start.

I wonder if the tablet like interface will allow control of TVs and Home automation...

Do you have any info saying it won't be?

No - that is why I asked the question?

One can hope for it, but be sure of it - not really!

If you know more, please tell us.

Yes, "BeoPad"or Moment is a NL sound system.

Look nice but personally I don't like wood version.

Hoping, it will be available either in white or black.

It is not a remote control of a TV or Home system.

At least one can use the speakers of the tv as it's speakers, then (?)

The BS5 as a concept has never been charmed me, it is a very nice piece of kit but together with the BM5 it was so wrong platform independent. I would love to see it independly working on NL but my guess that will never happen.

A more promising concept for B&O, would be as the Olive One (cited in another forum thread) based on a very strong platform for years to come. Maybe the new music sytem?

My Olive One is one year late in coming. Not something that B&O wants to emulate, even if the product eventually gets delivered and is technically sound. Olive are hopeless at updating their customers, have endless drift in their promised delivery dates, and their Youtube manufacturing clips give the impression that they are dependent on a tiny manufacturing operation somewhere in China.

I guess that the new system means no further updates to the BS5 Sad

There are still a few things that could have been nice to get to the BS5.

And I wonder why it was so difficult to utilize the BM5 as a NL enabled device and let it be a bridge between NL and ML.

I was told by several dealers that the BS5 will remain top of the range...

Network Link, replacement for Master Link

For people who have invested in ML there is an NL/ML converter box for audio signals and control signals but no video

The replacement for video (remember the analogue RF modulator and Link BVs ?) is to use the HDMI matrix and extender thingies

BeoNut since '75

What's that black rectangular thing mounted on what looks a B&O aluminium stand in the back of the room to the right of the doorway; is that a Beosound Moment...?

Ha ha. Wishful thinking on my part. The ghostly figure at the window on the floor above is an unusual sight.

Lovely room in which little but B&O would look good.

Just wondering if it will require Beosound Essence or it will operate independently and be positioned like a "more capable" Essence, half way to BS5?
