Hello,

I am currently thinking of purchasing BeoLab5s and was wondering if there will be a successor? Even if they are fantastic, there is still room for improvement and B&O is reshaping their entire product portfolio. And looking at the new BeoLab20, I like them (more than the BeoLab9).

Any insights about plans for new BeoLab5s?

Thanks and best regards

It looks to me as The Beolab 5 are the next in the pipeline...

I hope they will cost the same price as the bl5 at their launch not the actual price.

I do think they are already in the pipeline. They can't left the flagship without WISA built in. It wouldn't logical at all

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Dear DocLeisure,

Well, i popped into my local dealer on Saturday and the Beosound Moment (new audiosystem) is due out sometime at the end of the Summer and I whilst there I also enquired about a BL5 successor and he confirmed that this is in development and has been mooted at in their dealer meetings but aside from this no more information. Peter who is in this forum said he may have heard it behind a curtain but they weren't allowed to see it, naturally.

Like you, I am so very keen to see/hear more on this as soon as it is out but fear it may be sometime yet before the rumours crystallise into something more concrete. I thought the BL5 was a fantastic speaker, dare i say the best speaker in the world at the price of £10,000 on its release but it could do with a new DACs, made louder and some top end refinement would help.

Thinking about it has set off the goosepimiples and racing heart of excitement.

Best,

.

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.

Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.

Coincidentally, I went to my local dealer where I ordered the BeoLab 5s.  The should be here in early June (I'm in the US).

I asked about any rumors about the BeoLab 5 successor.  He alluded to the WISA format being added.  He also thought that the new speaker would be even more powerful than the BL5 and have a cost of about twice the BL 5!

I think you Will be satisfied with your Beolab 5. They are verry good speakers. But remember that even if B&O claims that you can put them where you like in the Room and that they Will give you the same preformance is not true. With the right placement for your Room you Will find out how good they are.

Even if a new bl5 is on their way the "old" ones are superior to most competition out there.

Listen the new BeoLab 20 !

Amazing Loudspeaker for BL 5's half price.

Very elegant and compact, the BLs 20 are simplier to live with WISA.

Let's buy them ! They are available.

Would imagine Beolab 21 (or what ever its designation is) would be a 2014/15 update of the Beolab 5 on the same principle as the Beolab 20 is a modernisation of the Beolab 9.

Cant see the BL(21)XX as a new revolutionary sucessor  to the revolutionary BL5 but may encompass better everything to sound better, build cheaper and increase added-value/margin.

Mistake they made with the BL5 for a while was it was as good as the best out there but far, far cheaper when the loudspeaker/amp combo is considered. I bet we dont see change for £18-20k on the new model.

If new Beolab 5s come, I hope they don't look like penguins.

I still think that the Beolab 5 sound much better in mid-range than the Beolab 20.

Also, I am not a big fan of the penguin design...

From what my dealer told me, the current WISA standard would not work with the Beolab 5. The Beolab 5's needs an extra channel in order to communicate with each other.

Beovision 11-55, Beovision 10-46, Beovision 7-40, Beocenter 6-23, Beosound 9000, Beolab 18, Beolab 19, 2xBeolab 3, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 2, Beocom 6000, Beosound 3, Playmaker

I love the Emperor Penguin design, I think they look like nuns in habits.

Can't wait to see what a BL5 successor will look like, and wondering then also if there will be a BL3 successor.  maybe a little penguin, so a mix between BL4 and BL3 :-)  That I would really like.

Then we would have a complete 'Beoquinn' family Smile

that was "news" for me too ... although I could imagine to calibrate a stereo field might need such an approach

The new Avant has a microphone entry for calibration... that doesn't mean you leave the mike connected all the time.

Some for speakers, they might provide a cable you connect only during calibration, if that's really needed and then you're done.

I cannot imagine that the BL5 successors won't be WISA.

I have attended all dealer meetings, the most recent being in Brussels in March and can confirm that there are no plans to replace the BeoLab 5....

PM me if looking for a pair in the UK!
