Hello guys,

I recently bought a B&O H6 pair from someone on craigslist. They said they worked for Audi etc... and they got them from a price so I grabbed them for $150. However I am feeling they are fake. There's something that tells me so and even though the guy said they were not and he'd give the money back I am unsure. I know probably the best way to know is to go somewhere that has them and compare but is there any known fakes and differences I can look at.. like the headset themselves, box etc? They look good don't get me wrong, im just honestly not impressed with the sound.

I can't seem to find fakes online like you would other brands, Bose-Beats.. etc.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If you are not happy with your purchase the first thing any consumer should do is take it back to where you purchased it from irrespective of the source.

Craigslist is not reputable source in my opinion for anything and I would never purchase anything from that site, intact I have only ever been to it once.

There are many reputable retail outlets you can go and visit to compare yours.

Good luck.

If he offered to give you your money back, take them back and don't let this opportunity to return something you have doubts about pass. Although I echo some similar sentiments about Craigslist, I've had plenty of success on there, buying and selling items. But as with all things like this: caveat emptor, buyer beware. Do your homework, do your due diligence.

Though, if you're basing your opinion on the sound, well, sound is very subjective. Some people rave about the H6, others, not so much.

My advice, would be, get your money back because you're not satisfied, even if they're the real deal.

What don't you like about the way they sound? What are you driving them with?

The sound is not bad. I just haven't tried the "real" ones so I am scared if they are fakes as I dont want to buy something thats fake. They are different from others for sure. Not much bass but the sound is good. In the end if they are real im good, but i just don't want to have doubts.

I've had plenty of success on craigslist also with prob over 20-30 deals.

Doesn't seem to be possible to see if they are fakes as these are not I guess as "fakes" as other brands.

im just using my phone or laptop the norm. It's not that I don't like them. Just something in my head that I don't like to have a doubt if they are fake or real. If there's no way of telling from the pics then theres only to options.. keep them or try return them to the guy. They might be the real stuff who knows. im not an expert in this.

I have a pair in the same colour and if these are fakes, they are exceptional.  The number of stitches are the same etc.  They look identical to mine from the font sizes on the printing to the bits of fuzz on the edge of the leather.

As for the sound, you need a 'proper' source.  Is it an Apple phone?  They were designed to be used with Apple products.  They are not too bass heavy so maybe that's what is making you uneasy if that's what you're used to from other headphones.

You have the box and the serial number - contact you local B&O dealer with the serial number and ask them to check for you.  Or, take them to a store and try them side by side with a pair from the dealer using the same source.

If you still aren't happy, get your money back but I think you may be missing a bargain.

Dave.

Great news and easy to find out.  For $150 you have a bargain and I hope you do enjoy them and they grow on you.  Try them with a decent source and I think you'll be satisfied.

For $150 you definitely have a bargain! I paid full tilt for my wife's pair, same color as yours.

They are not bass heavy thumpers, unlike so many headphones sold these days, they are accurate and amazingly easy to listen to for hours. The combination of no exaggerated bass, smooth mids and highs, and incredible comfort make them easy to get lost in long listening sessions with. Bass does improve with a source that can push more current, but I'll take a lighter bass over an overblown bass any day of the week. Some headphones I can't stand to listen to more than a couple of songs with due to the thump.

I'm not a big headphone user, so for my needs I went with a pair of Form 2's, which are not nearly as comfortable but good enough for how I tend to use headphones, and they sound quite good but not up to the H6. I paid almost as much as you did for the H6s for the Form 2s so you got a good deal.

Beovirus victim, it's gotten to be too much to list!

Whenever I show my H6's to a visitor they love the looks and feel, but universally complain they sound relatively flat compared to what they are currently using. Most accept they listen to what is at best above average quality mp3's etc, but as it's the music equivalent of junk food, they accept it's usually over overly seasoned with bass!

I definetely feel like I did get a bargain now and am quite happy. I did get them because of the look but also because I needed some over the ear headphones. The sound is not bad at all but is true I was thinking of a beats or big bass sound. However I do love them, they look awesome and super light. Right now I use it mainly on macbook and my phone which is android but will be getting iphone soon, so if it works better with iphone then even better.
