BeoSound 3000 behaving strangely

My Beosound 3000 has developed a problem.

When it has been in standby mode for a while, it's totally 'dead'. The red light is on, but it doesn't respond to the remote, and the doors won't open.
If i turn off the mains (or pull the plug) for a few seconds and plug it in again, then it 'wakes up' and the doors open as they should, and I can turn it on again either on the main panel or with the remote.
But it has 'forgotten' what radio station was last played -so it starts on the preset no. 1 every time. (however it do remember the station settings). And it is working fine for hours -just until the next time I try to turn it on -then the same happens.

Has anyone else experienced this?
