Ok, so having recapped my 3000-2 and given all the switches a good clean it was time to turn my attention to the faders.
The first thing I noticed is that the faders have been opened before - the plastic posts that hold the two halves of the shell together were already broken, but more significantly, some of the tiny pinhead sized carbon brushes that sit in a hole on the leaf springs are missing, so it's the metal springs that are running along the track instead.
I'm concerned that if I leave it like this the carbon tracks are likely to wear very quickly - my current thought is to apply a small 'lump' of solder to each of the leaf springs so it is at least this softer and smoother solder lump that will be making contact with the carbon track rather than the sharp edges of the metal spring.
Does anybody have any better suggestions?

Yes, replace the sliding part in the affected potentiometers.Or the whole potentiometer if the carbon track has already been damaged.

I'd assumed (perhaps wrongly?) that the sliding parts alone would be pretty much impossible to source. I had considered replacing the pots altogether but was thinking about whether there was anything I could do to prolong their life in the meantime.
The carbon tracks appear to be ok at the moment (aside from needing a a little cleaning and some lubrication), but I'm sure they won't remain that way very long with the current metal against carbon track situation.
Which potentiometers are affected and what type are they? (Photos?)
I wondered about making new wiper contacts using pencil lead?You can get it in various diameters for say drawing instruments n wotnot.Just superglue it in place?Replacement pot's,other than salvage seem rare these day's!
There are similar types,but the B&O volume control pot has a special spec,with a connection to the track for loudness compensation
I have several of these lovely old Beomaster's to restore,but sadly on the "roundtuit" list.
