I'm looking to expand my B&O collection, and I think I want my next set of speakers to be Pentas, however, the majority of music I listen to is either on Vinyl or through spotify. I was wondering if the Playmaker worked with Pentas, and if so, does it work with the displays of the speakers. If I were to use a line in pre amp with a turntable, and attach that to the AUX input on the playmaker, would the playmaker be able to handle volume control as well?
Hi, this is something I have considered too - I think you need a converter lead for the pentas, but the displays will not work as there is no control signal to them.
The turhtable should work via the aux in - I am interested to know if you need to keep plugging it in and unplugging it to use the turntable or if it is selectable or autosense.
Interested to hear how you get on and also the sound quality of pentas with playmaker - I have recently refoamed by Penta II's and they sound really good but I want to get the best of out of them now/
No problems in that.
But - as already written - no display on Penta, and depending on the turntable you - maybe - would need a turntable-preamp for it. The Aux-connection is a (cinch)phono-right/left input.
The Playmaker detects the signal on the Aux, but you can also choose it via Beo4 - see userguide for more.
The RJ-PL to DIN-PL adapter cable is avaible at you B&O dealer or through Steve - Sounds Heavenly.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
Update - I have just bought a Playmaker and waiting on arrival of the necessary cables, somewhat surprised at how big it is and as mentioned before on threads the choice of build material.
I'll post my thoughts on sound etc.... rather excited with my new toy....
ok I appreciate I have a slightly different set up than discussed (Penta III via a 7000 with Beogram deck). Set up the Playmaker last night and rather impressed with the quality. It is definitely superior to my original AirPort Express but lacking a little depth and clarity when playing Vinyl or CD but on par with radio quality.
What I really like is the volume which for some reason was lacking via Airport Express.
Hi - are the Penta's connected to the 7000 or Playmaker - be interested to hear if it was better with the 7000 plugged into the paymaker and the pentas to the playmaker, making it the central point
Best way - imo - is to connect it to the A.Tape- or A.Aux-in of the BM7000.
Set it up, tug it away, use it and enjoy.
Will be interesting to hear about that.
Aren't you going to miss the display on the Penta's
